Everything was simple for her.

She had a nice home, loving family. She even got along with her siblings.

How could anything go wrong?

Alex walked down the perfectly paved road, up her perfect driveway, into her perfect doorway, and to her perfect room.

She dropped her book bag off at her door, slipped of her shoes, then climbed into her bed. After laying there for a moment she pulled out her laptop and went to the Tumblr website in one tab then Wattpad in another.

She tried to log into her Tumblr but it said her password was wrong. She frowned at her computer screen. Her password had been the same for years. She clicked the lick that was to renew her password then tried her Wattpad.

Same results.

Then she tried to log into her email to change her passwords when she noticed her mom didn't greet her at the door like she usually did. And her dad wasn't on the couch with her brother watching sports.

Alex quickly got up and called downstairs, "Mom? Dad?" she called out. No one answered.

She ran down the steps only to bump into something. Or someone, should she say.

"Who the fuck are you?" she screamed when she didn't think the person was a threat.

"Listen to me; you can't stay here. It's dangerous here. Come with me and I'll take you to your family, I promise. You can bring a weapon with you just in case you don't believe me. We have to get out of here. Now," the peculiar man said to her, "You can go get some of your personal items. If you don't believe me, quickly check your parents' rooms or your brother's room."

She, after taking a look at the 'man' she noticed she shouldn't really call him a man. He was, or looked, about her age; 18. Light brown fringe covering his forehead and his eyes. Were they blue? Green? She couldn't tell but she was mesmerized. For now, she would call him a man.

Alex, forever giving peoples the benefit of the doubt, ran to her room and got her backpack off the floor and took the necessary items; her computer, cell phone, chargers, Polaroid camera, and a toothbrush. Surely they'd have clothes where she was going.

"Ok, I'm ready, go and get me a knife, please," she asked politely but still judging the man under her eyelashes.

"Done," he replied, brandishing a knife out of thin air and handing it to her.

"I'm not going to ask how you did that but let's go; you sounded like it was urgent."

"Ah yes, indeed, if you will so kindly climb upon my back, that'd be great," he asked her, holding out his hand.

She gently took his hand and was swept swiftly off her feet and onto his back. Feeling a little lightheaded from the unexpected unbalance, she tightened her grip on his back as he walked out the door and locked it behind him.

"Miss, can you close your eyes for me, please?" he questioned.

She nodded against her back and did as she was told.

As soon as her eyes were shut, she felt like she was flying. Higher and higher, until the man stopped suddenly.

"We are here, miss," he told her.

She felt played like this had been a joke.

"Surely we aren't there yet," she said back to him, eyes still closed. She felt oddly comfortable with this man.

"Open your eyes," he told her.

Slowly opening her eyes, Alex nearly fainted when she saw a bright house seemingly lost in the midst of the darkness surrounding them.

Alex was astonished. As if she were looking at a painting, she could see every detail in the beautiful scenery before her.

It was a black house, cover in sparkling fairy lights like a Christmas tree.

The grass was freshly cut and filled her senses beautifully. She turned her head to her left, still perched on the mans back, she saw a driveway. It was comical to her, as it looked like a cartoon goth house.

There was a rock pathway leading up to the large double doors which opened up to an even larger house.

Mansion.

She looked to her right and saw a shed. It looked as though it was a normal shed but it could be otherwise. She turned behind herself and saw nothing. No neighbors. No road. Nothing.

"Would you like to see your family?" the man asked her.

Alex nodded against his back as he walked up the pebbled path. He opened the door and, when the door was opened, she actually fainted after looking at the 3 people in front her.

This was not her family.
