Find Yourself and Be Free

This poem is dedicated to all the men and women who are told they can't be a certain thing. To all the people that don't know who they are. I've been told by many people that girls can't play soccer as well as men; well that hasn't stopped me from playing. I've had people tell me things that made me feel worthless and out of place. But if you just cut them out and ignore them, and focus on yourself and find the right people to befriend, you will find who you really are, and who you want to be. Keep your head up high even when you feel low.

I see far too many people walking through life with their heads down,

time passing by, not noticing their fellow men smile or frown.

What a world it would be,

if people were just free.

Free to be themselves, without worrying about others around,

not caring if they fail or just fall down.

Society, why are we so afraid?

To stand up for what we believe in each and every day?

I want to make this change, so the world can be free,

and when we walk down the streets, each other's souls are what we see.

Stop hiding behind the eyes of a fearful soul,

or hiding your face because you have a beautiful mole.

You're differences are good, they make you stand out.

Please don't try to fit in, that's not what this life is about.

You are you, and I love you for that,

and for all the haters out there, pick up the bat.

Take your swing, because I am strong.

I know who I am and I will sing my song.

If you don't like the tune you don't have to listen,

but please be kind because I want my soul to glisten.

This life is ours for the taking.

What fun is it if i'm hiding and not waking?

This is my time, to live my life and I will not stand down.

Everyone hear me, be yourself and you will wear the crown.

We can all be successful and we all have something to give.

Show your authenticity, stay focused on your vision, and just live.

Breathe in the fresh air and be confident in who you are,

you are beautiful and a unique shining star.
