Chapter 1. Unexpected



"HEATHER GET UP." My sister yelled at me.

"HEATHER." She yelled while shaking me.

I groaned.

"I know you're awake." She said under her breath.

She pushed me again which caused me to sit up and for her to get off my bed and back away.

I put both my arms up "I'm awake happy?"

"No. We're going to be late. Get ready for school." She huffed and slammed my door after walking out.

Why was she so moody in the mornings? And no you couldn't blame her period this time.

I got out of bed and walked over to my wardrobe and picked out my favourite t-shirt, one that my boyfriend got me for our two year anniversary, it was a shirt I always wore when I was at his so he gave it to me.

Before I could think about anything else I felt violently ill. I ran to my bathroom and instantly threw up. Why was I feeling sick all the time? I was never sick.

After getting up from the bathroom floor I rinsed my mouth and brushed my teeth, thinking about why I had been sick, why I had been sleeping in because I usually got up at 7am. And then I thought about it. I skipped my period, and that can only mean one thing.

I'm pregnant.

"Shit." I muttered under my breath. What am I going to do? I haven't even graduated yet and I'm already pregnant. I ran my fingers through my hair, brushed it and then put it up into a sleek high ponytail.

I walked out of the bathroom and grabbed my school bag which was hanging on my door and walked downstairs. I walked into the kitchen and the sick feeling came back when I smelt pancakes. I saw my mum, dad and sister sitting at our kitchen table all eating away, well Cody had finished and was on her phone.

"Come on Cods lets go."

She got up from her chair and I saw what she was wearing. A black leather mini skirt, a white belly shirt which was see through so you could see not only her cleavage from her pushed up boobs but you could also see her black lace bra.

"You're going to school like that" I said while pointing at her outfit.

"And?" She looked at me with anger filled eyes.

I turned to my mum and dad, they were both reading the newspaper.

"You look like a slut." I said without batting an eye lid.

"Whatever." She said while flicking her hair and walking outside.

I unlocked my car and she hoped in and started playing on her phone. I hoped in and turned on the car.

"You know I won't take you to school next time if you wear that shit." I said and she looked up gobsmacked.

"You have to take me." She said loudly.

"It's my car Cody I don't have to do anything."

"Whatever." She muttered under her breath.

"Why are you dressed like that anyway?" I questioned her.

"I don't have to justify myself to you." She said coldly while turning her head and looking out the window.

"Whatever." I said before turning up to radio.

We arrived at school and Cody went her own way, obviously we had completely different friend groups, and also she was two years bellow me.

I walked to my locker only to see Luke already standing there like he did every day. He turned around and smiled at me as he saw me. He walked up to me and put his arms around my waist.

"I missed you." He said while kissing me softly on the lips. He hugged me tight and stopped kissing me.

"You saw me yesterday." I said while smiling at the thought that he missed me.

"A day without seeing you is like a year in my time."

"Likewise." I said before kissing him.



We both pulled away to see a not so happy Principle Mark.

"What have I told you two about kissing on campus?"

Yeah we've been called into the Principles office one to many times.

"Erm..." Seriously that's all I could say.

"Sorry Mrs Marks it won't happen again." Luke said looking down at me grinning

"Yeah that's what you said the last five times this is your last warning."

"Okay." Luke said still grinning.



The principle walked off and Luke kissed me again this time with more passion. I pushed him away.

"Stop."

He placed his head against mine trying to catch his breathe.

"But I can't." He whispered before placing his lips on mine again.

Then the bell went. Obviously we needed to get to class like that would stop us from kissing. I backed away and he followed, that boy didn't want to stop.

"Baby." I said in the kiss and he stopped and held me.

"Yes?" He said happily while smiling at me.

"We need to talk." His smile instantly vanished.

"That's never good." He said quietly

"Oh god no I'm not breaking up with you."

He looked up at me and gave me a soft kiss.

"Thank god. I don't want to lose you."

"But this is serious can we get out of here?" I said freaking out he'd be the one to dumb me.

"Sure thing." He grabbed my hand and we walked out of the school grounds, not really caring if anybody saw us, we were in our last year so the teachers never really cared.

I unlocked my car and opened the boot so we could put our school bags in. After I shut the boot we both sat in the car and I turned on the engine. I knew where I needed to go.

"Where are we going bub?" Luke had a habit of calling me bub but I found it cute so I didn't mind.

"The drug store." I said nervously

"Why would we be going there?" He said with a confused look on his face

"I need to pick something up."

"Do we need more condoms?" He said smirking at me. I couldn't help but laugh but then I remembered what I needed to buy. I decided to pull over. I couldn't tell him while driving it was to intense.

I pulled to the side of the road and he looked at me confused.

"Babe are you okay why are you pulling over?"

I need to tell him now.

I looked at him.

"I think I'm pregnant."

His jaw dropped. And then after about a minute of him staring at me with no expression on his face he smiled at me and then he did something that was completely unexpected. He leaned over and kissed me. He was the first to pull away and I still had my eyes closed.

"Really?" I opened my eyes to see him smiling.

"I haven't taken a test yet but I skipped my period."

"Let's get you a test then."

"You're not mad?" I raised my eyebrows.

"Baby I love you, I want to have a future with you." He said while he caressing my face with his thumb.

"Really?"

"We've been together for 3 years next month I love you more than anything in the world."

"I know just what if I am pregnant what are we going to do?" I started crying and the grip of his hand in mine tightened. I forced myself to stop crying.

"I know it's a little unexpected." A LITTLE. A human could be growing inside of me no biggie. Not that I was scared about that because I have always had that 'maternal nature' as my mum says.

"You could say that again." I muttered under my breath as I started the car.

The store was about mile down the road. We arrived at the drug store in no time and I practically ran into the store. Where are the damn pregnancy tests? I walked down the 'lady' section and was completely dumb founded when there were so many to choose from. Can't there just be one that's reliable, which one am I meant to choose. Fantastic.

Luke was behind me shortly huffing. "Why were you walking so fast?"

"I need to get this over with." He smiled at me and then looked at all the pregnancy tests.

"How many do they need?" He said confused and I laughed

"That's what I thought, this seems good it has a happy baby on it so." I said while looking down at the happy baby.



"This will do." I grabbed the test and walked to the counter.
