I walked through the automatic doors of the corner street coffee shop. The sweet smell of Caramel lattes and frappucinos swept around me and I pushed my golden curls back. A sweet looking girl behind the counter looked up and flashed an angelic smile.
"Hi sir welcome to Cafe 73! How may I help you?"
This girl appeared to have no recognition of who I was. Good. That was the way I liked it.
"The names Jamie Campbell Bower. I'd love a glass of delicious milk. And maybe a certain pretty girl's number? What's your name?"
The girl blushed.
"You're sweet Mr Bower. My name is Rebecca Kelly. One order of delicious milk coming up."
With that I took my seat by the window and spied on this fascinating girl. I watched as she mixed the milk together, such concentration on her work. This girl was intriguing and there was a certain air about her that made me want more. Rebecca came over with the milk in hand, pen behind her ear. She set the milk on the table and grabbed out her notepad. The pen was brought to the paper as she scribbled down her number, then ripped the page off and set it down on the table.
"Your order, sir," Rebecca said with a sly grin. She walked back towards the front counter, bounce in her step.
THE NEXT MORNING
I am nervous. Me , Jamie Campbell Bower am shaking in my boots. What if she doesn't answer? What if she doesn't remember me? the number is typed in and all I have to do is press call. I wait a few seconds, then press it. The phone is dialing, when after a couple of rings, it is answered.
"Hello?" that familiar husky voice answers.
" Hello this is Jamie Campbell Bower. I this Rebecca?"
She giggles and I am captivated.
" You know you don't have to recite your whole name when you greet me. I remember your voice. And yes this is Rebecca Kelly from Cafe 73."
I laugh and am put at ease.
" So your milk is wonderful. I would love to try it again." I say, immediately regretting my horrible choice of words.
There is a brief awkward silence, when u suddenly hear a burst of laughing from the other end of the line. I am so freaking lucky.
" You are hilarious Mr Bower! or should I call you Jamie?"
" Please, call me Jamie. I'm glad you find me so funny. Many might say my sense if humor is inappropriate."
"Jamie you are hardly inappropriate. All that previous joke was missing was 'Got milk?'"
