In a different world, maybe this wouldn't have happened. Maybe I would still have a family.
"Kerria, quickly collect some water from the well." That's what my mum had told me.
Being the good child I was, I had done as she asked. Only to return to ash.
My whole town of Aldpine burnt.
I stumble through the wreckage. There is no sign of saviours.
I can't hold my tears in. They flow down my cheeks. Why did I listen to mum? She should've been the one to survive, not me. She had the kind and gentle soul that I could only wish for.
Somewhere in the mists of my thoughts, it had started to rain. The memories washed away.
I fall to the ground and sob. Not caring about the sharp rocks cutting into my hands.
I had everything. And after one trip to the well, it was all gone.
My eye catches something shiny. I crawl over to it for investigation.
My hand clutches around it, a small dagger. On the hilt is Kokaki's Council's emblem, a king's crown.
The Council has been here, recently. I hold the dagger close to my heart.
I couldn't stay here. I needed to find someone, alive preferably.
Maybe in a different world people wouldn't get picked off, the innocent ones killed.
Maybe in a different world, but not the land of Kokaki.~~~
