Chapter 1

"What?!"

"Quit shouting at me Niani. I'm still your father."

"Dad, please. You can't be serious."

"I am serious."

"Dad, alam mo naman kung gaano ko kagustong maging designer diba?"

"Wala kang mapapala diyan. Dapat sumunod ka sa yapak namin. You're going to take law and that's final."

"Dad.. plea-"

"No Niani. If don't want to follow me then leave my house."

"Fine! If that's what will make me fulfill my dreams, then I'll leave. I  can't stand being your good daughter anymore."

I sighed. Why is my life so complicated? I just wanted to be a fashion designer. That's all I asked. All my life I've been doing everything they want me to do. I'm just asking one favor. Just one. He's so selfish. I don't want to be a lawyer. I never wanted to.

It's so cold. That's why I hate riding mini busses. I ran away from that house. I can't stand being a good daughter anymore. I'm so fed up. I hope my mom would understand. I know she will. Siya lang naman ang nakakaintindi sa 'kin.

Saan na nga ba ako pupunta? Hayy. Pumunta na lang kaya ako kila Mara? 'Di pwede. Nakakahiya.

*Tell me I'm the only wanna go over tonight.. yeeaaahh.*

"Hello. Mom?" Tumatawag pala si mommy. Siguro alam na niya.

"Niani? Anak? Where are you?" I made her worry again.

"Mom. I'm sorry, I made you worry. Nandito ako sa bus ngayon. Are you okay there?"

"I'm fine, anak. Your dad told me. You don't have to do this Niani. Please come home, I'll talk to your dad." Umiling ako kahit hindi naman niya makikita.

"No, mom. Nakapagdesisyun na po ako." She let out a heavy sigh.

"May tutuluyan ka na ba?"

"Actually, wala pa po."

"Go to my old place."

"To your what?"

"May unit ako sa Lapeza Corp. You can stay there, hindi alam ng Dad mo ang unit ko na iyon." May unit si Mama sa Lapeza? Ang alam ko, doon ang unit ni Hairu at Mara.

"Oh my gosh, mom! Thank you. I love you so much."

"Anything for you, anak. I love you too. Sasabihin ko na lang sa mga nasa front desk na ikaw ang gagamit sa unit ko, I'll text you the passcode. Take care, anak. Call me when you get there. I gotta go, your dad's here." She ended the call. Omg! Nakahinga ako ng maluwag dahil sa sinabi ni Mommy. Buti na lang. I knew it, she always finds a way para sa akin.

Umuulan na sa labas nang makarating ako sa Lapeza kung saan ang unit ni Mommy. Nag-inquire ako sa front desk at sinabi naman nila sa akin yung number at kung saang floor. 32th floor- 21356.

Sa pagkakatanda ko sa 35th floor ang unit nina Mara at Hairu. Magkahiwalay sila pero magkatabi naman. Pero hindi na doon tumitira si Mara. Dumadalaw na lang siya.

Nasa pinaka-dulong part yung unit, 6 units bago yung unit ni mommy, bale pang 7. Oo binilang ko talaga. I entered the passcode, I openned the door and a pink and light pink walls met my eyes.

Gusto ni Mommy ng malinis na paligid, no wonder malinis din dito. Siguro may tagalinis siyang pinapadala. May mga random paintings sa walls. May painting ng isang babae na may hawak na red rose sa gilid ng dagat, rainbow, sunset.. I felt sad when I saw our family picture. I was 5 years old that time, kuya is 8 and.. Ate Nerisha is 10. We look so happy in that picture and it makes me feel sad.

Pumunta ako sa kusina, I smiled nang nakita kong may oven at kumpleto yung mga utensils. I went to mom's room, light pink walls, pink bed and sheets, pink cabinet, pink everywhere. Mom told me she loves pink when she was a teenager, maybe lolo bought this for her noon. I wonder why dad didn't know 'bout this unit. May bathroom din dito sa room and as usual pink ulit.

Iniayos ko na yung mga gamit ko at inilagay sa dapat na lagayan. Umupo ako sa bed nang matapos na ako and I decided to call mom. Tatlong ring bago siya sumagot.

"Hello, mom."

"Hello, anak. Nakarating ka na ba?" Why is she whispering?

"Yes mom. I like your unit. Why are you whispering?" Pati tuloy ako napa'whisper na din.

"I'm here in the bathroom. Your dad's in the room. It's your unit now too. Honey, listen. I'm going there tomorrow in the morning okay? Wait for me there-- yes hon, I'm fine- I gotta go sweetie, I love you." *toot* *toot*

Okay. I'll take a shower first before I sleep. I looked at the clock beside the table, it's already 9:45. Nagdinner naman ako kanina sa bahay.

I changed and went to my bed. Then reality kicked in. Ano na naman bang napasok ko? I know, every single day will going to be hard but I won't change my mind. I'll work and I'll study. Mageenroll ako sa Fasiona de Unibersidad. Mabuti na lang at malapit lang iyon dito. I'll also try to get a scholarship.

Magpapahinga na lang muna ako, I'm so tired. I sang my lullaby and everything went black slowly..
