Anyone remember Weeves (Wolves + Deer)?
I completely changed that species.
Now they are Dreeves (Dreef for singular). Basically (or exactly) dagons, wolves, and deer combined.
Dreeves are somewhat complex. They have the horns, wings, neck scales, hindquarters, and part of the tail of a dragon; ears, snout, fur, and part of the tail of a wolf, and hooves of a deer.
They are approximately the size of deer (shoulder height 50-110 cm, length 90-200 cm [approx. 20-43 inches and 35-79 inches]).The sclera of the eye is white, with a slotted pupil surrounded by a coloured iris in the center.
Colours vary greatly. The fur is generally either a warm colour or a shade (Red, orange, yellow, brown, white, gray, black), the scales are cool colours or pastels (green, blue, purple, pastel anything), and the horns, hooves, claws, and wing skin can be warm or cool colours, but never shades (no black, white, or gray). There are no patterns on the fur, but the scales may have spots or stripes that are black, white, OR (rarely) gray.
Dreeves generally live in mountain ranges, and have grown accustomed to changing altitudes constantly. Caves are their preferred dwelling. If no caves are available, they will live in clusters of trees and bushes or in between boulders. Living in groups ranging from 4-12 other dreeves, they hunt, sleep, and eat together, and take care of each other. A group of dreeves is called a plight.
Dreeves are carnivores, and will eat any living thing smaller than them. Their diet consists mainly of trout, squirrels, badgers, and birds, but they will eat whatever they can kill if they get the chance. They fly down into forests and by lakes to hunt. They occasionally eat humans, but not often since humans are difficult to take down without getting hurt (humans have guns, knives, etc.).
Dreeves are very territorial and hostile against other plights of dreeves. The plight is led by a dominant female, called the Krivo. The Krivo will rarely mate, only choosing a male whom she perceives as worthy. The Krivo leads her plight into battle with other plights for territory and hunting rights, and is willing to die to protect her 'family'. Plights often feud, and many dreeves are killed by their own species.
The only main difference between males and females are the reproductive organs (similar to those of wolves) and the shape of the horns.
The natural enemies of the dreef are bears and wolves, both because of their similar diets and territory needs. Bears are a big threat, being stronger and bulkier than dreeves. Wolves, while not having the advantage of the wings and size of dreeves, are more agile and can sneak up on an unsuspecting plight with little trouble.
Dreeves are not common, but there are several plights living in the wilderness outside of AARIO.
This is a CLOSED species, so please do not make any dreeves of your own. :)
Man, that seems really long now that I look at it.
