Omniscient
Brooklyn, New York

Slamming the driver side door, Kehlani shivered, placing the folded brown paper bag underneath her arm then pulled the opening of her jacket close to shield herself  from the cold fall air. Her eyes danced around at the array of yellow, orange and red leaves falling around her. It was always beautiful around this time of year in New York, she couldn't help but to stop and take in the scenery whenever she stepped foot outside.

Sluggishly making her way up the front steps of the beautiful Browstone building, she blew out a breath of air before pushing the front door open and stepping inside into the warmth of the condo. The scent of the vanilla cinnamon candle she had burned hours prior still filled the air of her home which welcomed a slight sense of comfort for her.

Carefully slipping out of her brown suede knee high boots, she slowly sauntered into the familiar but quaint kitchen and placed the brown paper bag down onto the marble island. Running her fingers through her short pink hair, she momentarily closed her eyes, trying to relax her emotions because they were all over the place. Part of her couldn't stop thinking that deep down, she wasn't allowed to feel the way she was feeling. She'd made the choices that led to where she was now so why should she be able to grieve when this was all her fault in the first place? Those same thoughts kept running through her mind.

Pulling herself together, she walked over to the smooth finish cabinets and opened one up, pulling down a glass cup, she filled it up with water. Her stomach was cramping to the extreme and she hadn't expected this pain to come so quickly, she looked down, placing a hand on her belly briefly she sighed blinking away the tears that so desperately wanted to fall.

Picking up the brown bag, she slowly pulled out the pills her OB prescribed for her and popped the cap off, slipping one in her mouth, she chugged down half the cup of water. She took a deep breath, relaxing her nerves before setting the cup down and putting the pills away.

Kehlani's plush, sock covered feet dragged across the light brown hardwood that decorated the floors of the living space. Her mind once again drifting to those same thoughts from before as she headed down the hall to the bedroom that she shared with the love of her life, Chris. Placing her hand on the door handle, she twisted it, opening up the door and nearly jumped out of her skin noticing his masculine figure sitting at the edge of the bed.

'What is he doing home so early?' She thought.

"Oh my god, you scared the hell out of me!" She shrieked holding her chest. Not even paying attention, she continued over to the dresser and pulled out a long sleeved thermal along with the matching sweats. "How long have you been here? I thought you had a meeting today?" Kehlani questioned while stripping from her previous attire and slipping her legs into the sweats one by one.

It was then she finally looked up and noticed him sitting in the same spot quietly, which for him is pretty unusual. He's always been goofy, loud mouthed and obnoxious but at this moment she wasn't picking up those vibes from him, which put her in an uneasy mood. If she knew him the way she thought she did, he was thinking about something and it was bothering him. Before she could ask what was wrong he spoke.

"So, you pregnant Lani?" He looked straight up at her, an unreadable expression on his face.

Kehlani's brows furrowed in confusion, "Wh- huh?" She stuttered, her heart beginning to race in her chest at the question. How did he find out?
