My name is Willow Dangerfield. Even in death, that will never change. That's the name Mom and my older brother Ryder will remember me by. That's the name that my best friend Hudson and his family will remember me by. That's what name Felix Harrison, the President of Leocia, will use when he tells the people that the country is safer, because there is one less Temerary.
I saved Mom. That's why I'm here. I used my magic to heal her after she'd been shot by one of Felix Harrison's inspectors. I knew that it would use all of my energy, but I was okay with it. My best friend Livia and my Grandpa had just died, and I couldn't lose my mother too.
I walk with Livia and my Grandparents, towards the top of the hill that will bring me to the rest of the afterlife. The meadow is behind me, with the single weeping willow tree among the flowers.
I look back at Grandma and Grandpa for a moment, and I'm once again shocked by their young appearance. I was told that they can decide how old they want to look, and decided on early twenties; the age they were when they were married.
A piece of Livia's blonde hair tickles my cheek. She looks the same as before she was shot and killed by a government agent, who inspector Rodenburg claimed to be married to. The cruelest people I have ever met, get to be happy and alive, while three of the best people I ever knew were taken unfairly, when it wasn't their time.
Grandma was killed in a car accident eight years ago, by a drunk driver. I was in the car with her, and I survived, but she didn't.
Livia was shot nearly two weeks ago, after I used my magic to scare away some people harassing the two of us.
Grandpa was killed shortly after Livia. We were running to the forest to hide, and he was too slow because of his arthritis. The government agents went around the corner and he was running. His curse of obedience made him go to them when called, but made him run when I told him to. He was shot and killed as well.
It crushed me. I look down at my left hand and see that my scars have disappeared. The G and the L that I cut with a knife after they died, a constant reminder of those that I lost. I had been planning to add a second G, for Grandma, after they had healed. I guess that won't happen now.
It does something amazing to your spirits, being with those who love you unconditionally, even after so much that I could've done to save them.
I'm filled with a sense of peace and happiness, the truest sense of joy that I've felt for nearly two weeks.
A woman appears at the top of the hill, one that I'm fairly certain I've never seen before, but seems so familiar to me. She has long blonde hair, and a look of determination on her face.
I feel a sudden jump in my chest, and I'm lurched backwards. My arm is torn out of Liv's grasp, and I stop, fifteen metres back from them, nearly at the bottom of the hill again.
The blonde's eyes widen, and she starts running down the hill towards me.
Is this some kind of sick, cruel joke? I wonder. Make me think I've been blessed with heaven, let me see my family, then take me away from them? Where will I go now? Hell?
"Willow?" Livia asks, confusion in her face. But Grandma and Grandpa's expressions are one of slight relief and happiness, but not for themselves. They are directing the look at me.
"It's not your time, sweetie. You're going back to your life," Grandma tells me, then blows me a kiss. "I love you, Willow."
Grandpa gives me a half-smile, his signature trait that I picked up on at a young age. Now that he's passed on, I am more glad than ever that I am carrying it on. "Willow, as much as I love you, and wish we could spend forever together, I forbid you from returning here until it's truly your time. Not for many years, after you've lived a full life."
The jump in my chest comes again, and I am being continuously pulled backwards, away from heaven.
I am in shock. I'm going back?
"Say hi to Hudson for me! I love you Willow, now go and live through a hundred more experiences and remember every detail so I can hear all about it one day!" Liv says with a grin and a wink.
The vision starts to disappear, and by the blonde's reaction, I suppose I'm disappearing from their view as well. Her face contorts into an expression of panic, anger, and sadness. And also pain, which confuses me. "No!" she cries as she realizes that she won't reach me in time.
"Willow, tell Kylie that Phoenix is alive, and that he's in Casedena! And tell her - tell her that Raine is so sorry for all the pain she's caused your family. Please tell her Raine loves her!"
And everything is black. Again.
A/N: Hello again! I know it's been longer than expected for this book to start, but the summer was busy, and now that school has started I don't know how much time I will have to write, so please just bear with me.
Anyways, please vote and comment!
Happy reading!! :D
