You watched your boyfriend and band mate, Brendon, take his place at the piano earning cheers from the audience. A certain silence filled the air as familiar notes rang out. You immediately recognized the song, The End of All Things. A graceful piano ballad that never failed to leave the crowd in awe. Several times you had asked Brendon what the song was about, but he never gave you a straight answer. You liked to believe it was a prediction of the future. However, you had been dating Brendon for over two years and he showed no signs of wanting to get married.
From your place on stage right you could see everything. Crowd members holding hands and swaying gently. Lighters and camera flashes capturing the moment. Though, undoubtedly, your favorite sight was the soft blue glow illuminating Brendon. His skin was glistening with perspiration by this point and his usually quiffed hair hung in his face. Yet, he still managed to look ethereal under the lights. You watched his fingers waltz over the keys, occasionally giving him a shy smile which he returned. Brendon normally felt at ease on stage, but tonight you couldn't help but notice there was something off about him. You brushed it off as nerves as the song came to a close, the final note fading into the night.
Preparing to play the next song you were taken aback when the lights continued to dim. A spotlight followed Brendon across the stage until he stood before you. Gripping the neck of your guitar you gave him a skeptical look. Before you could question him he was on one knee, smiling up at you.
He took your hand in his, running his thumb over the top of your hand, "Shelby, these past two years have been the best years of my life. I am beyond in love with you and no matter where life takes us I will continue to be in love with you. You are one of the most talented and beautiful people I know. Will you do me the honor of spending the rest of your life with me and being my wife?"
Tears were caught in your throat as Zack presented Brendon with the box containing a simple diamond ring. You choked out a small 'yes' as Brendon slid the ring on your finger and pulled you into a kiss. He whispered a soft 'I love you' against your lips as the crowd erupted into Tears of joy continued to stream down your face. The song had been about you the entire time. You were going to marry your best friend, the man of your dreams. This imagine is dedicated to TheGreenGentlelady. I really hope you liked this, Shelby.
