Hard life is all I ever have known. Hard life is all I will know. In the streets of the Bronx, the BX. A place where all we want is money, power, and for the girls love from a thug. All in all, we want things that only causes corruption in society. The typical day in the BX is old heads slang in' rocks, hot girl's throwing themselves at street pharmacist's, and the young population dramatically decreasing because of gunshot's.

I am a African-American 17 year old that goes to a private school in New York. I live in Buena Vista, a middle class neighborhood in New York. I live with my mother but I visit my father every weekend and summer where he on the other half lives in the total opposite of me.

"Jasmine baby the food is ready, hurry so you won't miss the bus," my mother claimed.

"I'm coming. I just have to find my AP Calculus book," I shouted down the thirty flight stairs hoping she heard me so she wouldn't get mad because she's a person of two personalities.

As I continue searching something tells me to look under my bed and there was my book. Thank God I found it in enough time to eat breakfast and get on my bus. Lord knows if I would have missed my bus my mom would be pissed the hell off. My school wasn't far from home but a girl like me shouldn't be walking. Not to say I'm too good to be walking, but because I always wake up on time, and to put the icing on the cake my mom has three cars. So for me to even be walking theirs no reason.

You may wonder since my mom has three car, why don't I drive one? That's because she is selfish like that. I see why my father left her and stayed in the slums but I am grateful for her dropping me off to his house every weekend and summer. The bus ride went pretty smooth, as always. We finally arrived to "Buena Vista Norway Highschool" the private school I so dearly hated. I hated for all the snobbish kids, stupid rules about dress code, and theirs favoritism towards students because of their family wealth, and background. I walked into the school primarily noticing the newly polished floors, and lockers. I hurriedly looked for B129, which was my locker number. I rushed to get away from the swarm of kids coming ahead. The kids ways just made me feel very uncomfortable. When I say uncomfortable, I actually mean it. Their slow walk, where the girls wouldn't dare look down, their confidence was at a high peak and to me it was more like they were robots. I called the kids demeanor "Worts", Where in life some people call it a "Sashay".

As I hurriedly closed my lockers after grabbing my books and gym clothes I heard some familiar voice screaming my name down as if I'm partially deaf. You would think kids here at this private school had manners, Yes right? Oh you must know they DON'T actually!

"JASMINE! JASMINE! Hold on." Carisma said chasing me down the hall.

I was the type of person that reacted fast to things, and one thing I hated was confrontation. Therefore I learned how to very well ignore the crap out of people. Something in me caused me to stop in my tracks and turn around slowly, to be faced to someone I didn't want to see this morning.
