Chapter Two

The plane ride was the worst three and a half hours of my life because I couldn't sleep a single bit while Toby was snoozing the whole time.

We got off of the plane and went to baggage claim where I automatically spotted my dark red suitcase. "Toby, there is mine. Would you mind getting it for me?" I asked because he was standing right in front of it. "You have two functioning arms, you can get it on your own." He sounded a bit annoyed but i'll blame it on the uncomfortable plane ride.

I don't want to complain too much so I just quietly got my suitcase and patiently waited for Toby's. When we found his we walked outside of the airport and I was immediately stunned. The sun peaked through the tall glass buildings making it seem as if I was in a movie. The busy streets filled with people trying to get to and from places in a hurry made it all seem so surreal, I finally made it.

I was too busy staring at everything around me in aw to realize Toby had already got a cab and was waiting for me to get in. "Oh sorry" I mumbled feeling the heat rise to my cheeks from embarrassment. I put my suitcase in the trunk and we were off to the college. I was nervous to find out who I would be rooming with and if she will be some psycho roommate like I see in the movies.

We pulled up to the college and Toby pulled out his wallet and paid while I simply thanked the nice man for the ride. I turned around and I felt the butterflies in my stomach triple. It was so much bigger than the pictures and honestly the pictures on the website would never give enough credit. There was a very large fountain with water flowing from the top in front of the entrance of the dorms.

It was everything I have imagined until i saw the people there. Girls in minimum clothing and guys with no shirts, this may be the average teenagers dream but it was far from mine. A man with brown hair and tanned skin was in the front handing out maps and such in front of the fountain. "May I have a map please?" I asked the boy after he got done showing directions to the library to a girl in front of me. "Of course you can pretty lady." I felt myself blush as he looked back up at me with light caramel brown eyes and a map in his hand.

Suddenly I heard Toby behind me cough and put his arm around my waist. "Thanks for the map bud but she has a boyfriend." Sometimes he can be overprotective but I can talk to other guys whenever I want and there shouldn't be a problem. I heard the boy start laughing when we walked away which made me chuckle with Toby thankfully not noticing.

"Okay my room is here" he said pointing to a place on the map "and yours is over here." While dragging his finger practically all the way across the page. I let out a sigh because I wish he was in the same building as me instead of all the way across campus. "Ah it'll be alright sweetie, we will see each other as much as possible." He said sending me a wink. I knew what that meant, it meant sex.

There was nothing wrong with sex but I don't think I will be ready for it for a long time but Toby keeps asking and hinting towards the subject which makes me angry because he knows I am not ready. "Walk with me to my dorm, would you?" He asked flashing his award winning smile "Of course" I said grabbing his hand.

As we were walking towards his building I saw girls wearing bathing suits for no reason and I think they just wanted an excuse to show off their bodies but I was disgusted. Toby was gawking at every girl that walked by and I nudged him with my elbow and he squinted his eyes at me as in saying 'what was I doing wrong?'

We have been together since the end of my sophomore year so we are comfortable around each other. We don't flirt with each other like we used to when we first started dating but I guess that comes with being together for a long time. I am getting a little more irritated as he still looks at every girl we pass, its like he doesn't even notice I am here. I know i just got off of a plane but I didn't think I looked utterly disgusting. We finally get to his dorm and I let out a huff which causes him to give me a questioning look.

"What is wrong?" you have got to be kidding me. "Well I don't like to watch you stare at other girls very much." I say trying not to be like an annoying girlfriend. "Aw baby, you know I would only look at you." I turn my head so he cant see me roll my eyes and i decide to let it go.

"I should go find my dorm, ill see you later." I tried to make my way towards the door but he grabbed my wrist. "You arent upset with me, are you?" Yes. "No of course not." I put on my best smile even though I am boiling but instead I just give him a swift kiss and step outside his room.

I am carrying my suitcase behind me as I trudge all the way across campus and boys keep looking at me in a creepy way. I just keep my head down and walk as fast as I can without looking like an idiot. I finally get inside the air conditioning and it feels amazing against my hot skin.

I get out the map that I got when we arrived on campus and see that Toby circled my dorm for me and I find where I am on the map so I can tell where my dorm is. I turn the corner after walking a few steps and there it is. I open the door and there is a shirtless boy with tattoos all over his body and brown curly hair.

I tried to make my presence known and coughed a little "what the fuck are you doing in here?" He asked as he spun around to look at me with an angry face. "T-this i-is my dorm" I never liked conflict and now i am getting it the first day here. His face twisted with anger as he snatched the papers out of my hand. "Obviously not, on this paper it says yours is next door" I dont understand why he is being so hateful "u-um i-im-" "Are you going to spit it out or just stand there like an idiot?"

Instead of saying anything else I turned on my heel and left. I knocked on the room next door unlike the last dorm I entered when I just barged in on someone that I shouldn't have. I heard a small "come in" on the other side of the door and I am alread happy that it is a girl that i'm rooming with.

I twist the handle and open the door and see two beds, a mini fridge, a couch and a bing bag chair. This is not what I was expecting at all, I was expecting a small room with two twin beds.  There is a dark girl with short curly hair and very light brown eyes. She is sitting on one of the bing bag chairs and is holding a textbook until she notices that I have come into the room and her faces lights up.

She stands up straightening her shirt and holds her hand out to me, I love her already. "Hi my name is alexis, im pretty sure we are roommates" she giggled a lit bit after. "I am pretty sure we are too, my name is Katherine but people call me Katie." I said while giving a big smile. "Well I already put my things on that bed" she said pointing to the left of the large room "but if you want that bed then I will move my things to the other one." She was so sweet and asking me what bed I wanted even though she was here first and had her things on the bed.

"Oh no, please keep your things there it is just a bed." She nodded her head and agreed with me. I plopped down on the bed and took a deep breath, I can finally relax. Just when I was about ot drift off to sleep my roommate started talking "so Katie, do you have any friends here?" I have Toby but I don't have any friends really, I am certainly not good at making friends. "I have my boyfriend but I don't really have any friends, do you have any friends?" I asked trying to get answers out of her as well. "I dont have a lot of friends, just many acquaintances. You know what I mean?" I nodded my head encouraging her to continue, "I go to parties with my small group of friends and meet new people."

I didnt think she was a party girl, I mean there is nothing wrong with it i just dont like the idea of getting drunk every night of college until I can't remember my name/ "No offense but you didn't strike me to be a party girl, seeing as when I came in here you had a textbook in your lap." I don't mean to put a label on it im just pointing out what I saw. "I am both types I guess you could say, school comes first and then i party."

And this is how the rest of our day went. Asking each other questions about our childhood and how we ended up here. I sent Toby a quick text telling him that I love him, to have a good nights rest and that I would see him tomorrow. I pulled my comforter on my new bed back and slipped in, wishing Alexis a goodnight and drifting off into a deep sleep.
