"Hey Jude, you feel like a grabbing a beer at the bar down main?"
My coworker Michael asked as I was packing up my satchel after a long day of grading tests and giving detentions. I sighed inwardly as I realized this was the sixth time he has suddly tried to ask me out. Michael didn't know that I knew he had a thing for me and I didn't intend to tell him. Michael was actually a nice guy but... he just was not my type at all. He was a bit to clingy and persistent. I bit the inside of my cheek and quickly started to pack up the rest of my paperwork.
"Uhm... I actually think I'm just gonna head home. Sorry Michael, but its been a long day and... you know... gotta feed the cat and all. Maybe next time though." I could tell his face fell a little bit but tried to give a smile that didn't really work well and I honestly felt bad. I just didn't have the heart to tell him I didn't like him in that way. "Oh yeah, okay uh... I understand. Yeah, I think I'll probably just head home myself too then. I'll see you tomorrow I guess." He quickly walked away from my desk and I felt my heart break a little for him. He was so sweet and deserved someone who truly loved him.... but that just wasn't me. I slumped down in complete guilt before turning off my desk lamp and heading out of the school building.
I was currently walking down the freezing dark sidewalk when something moved in the alley way out of the corner of my eye. I know it probably wasn't the smartest thing to go and check it out but just like the stupid blond chick in all the horror movies, curiosity killed the cat and I found my self slowly walking towards where I saw the movement. Once I rounded the corner cautiously I saw something curled up in a corner shaking like a leaf. I pulled my coat tighter to my body as I exhaled out the cold air before slowly approaching what appeared to be a very cold shaking human being.
"H-hello? Are you okay? Do you need some help or something?" Shockingly the shaking bundle instantly shot up as if set on fire and pinned himself against the cold hard brick wall. I instantly gasped as the most beautiful yet terrified ice blue eyes stared back at his shocked dull brown ones. My god... he's gorgeous.
The boy looked to be no more than seventeen. However, he looked more like a scared frail little boy than anything else. The boy was whimpering softly out of fear and brought his scrapped and shaking knees up to his chest and started cowering against the molding brick wall. Jude felt his heart ache at the sight before him. The beautiful boy was obviously freezing with nothing but tattered old jeans and a small long sleeve shirt that was barely even his size.
His lips were chapped and were a shocking shade of pale blue that frightened jude. His whitish snow like hair was limp and lifeless against his head but what shocked him the most was his frail body.
Poor kid looked like he hadn't had a decent meal in weeks. Jude instantly feared that this boy looked like he was about to freeze to death. Dear god, if I don't do something I know tomorrow I'll wake up and turn on the news only to find out they found this poor boy dead from hypothermia. What the hell do I do?! I can't just leave him out here like this, he'll freeze to death. Then again he doesn't look like he wants much help either.
Damn, screw it!
I took a step towards him but he immediately jolted away from me and further into the corner. God what happened to this kid? I cautiously took a few more steps while putting my hands in front of me in a I'm not gonna hurt you gesture.
