It was always the same when Abbie stayed over. We made some sort of cake or cookies in the afternoon before laughing until our sides hurt at something that's probably only mildly funny to someone else, and it always felt amazing. Just the two of us, spending time together and reviewing the parts of the week that we weren't together.

The sheets on my bed were only just over my legs, but I didn't mind. I decided it might be nice to surprise Abbie with breakfast like Ollie did for me, but she must have heard me because she walked after me.

"Don't bother cooking today, let's go out for breakfast! It might give us a chance to maybe meet new people! It'll be interesting to see what this side of the city is like seeing as though we've always lived on the other side." She suggested, taking the bag of bagels from my hand and putting them away. No matter how much I wanted to stay in and have my own coffee, I knew that take out was probably going to be much better. Plus, it meant I had nothing to tidy up when I got back.

"Breakfast out sounds great, where can we go?" I asked, hoping she already had a place in her head.

"Honestly, I haven't the slightest idea, but that's what adventures are all about, right?" She replied, the excitement on her face was like a child at Christmas, and I didn't understand where it was coming from.

"Sure, why not... Let's go on an... adventure?" I said, walking to my room in order to get ready. "If you wanted to borrow some body spray before we go, it's in that little spotty bag in the corner by the microwave!" I yelled from my room, remembering how I forgot to move it to the bathroom yesterday. I put my outfit together and applied a thin layer of makeup before taking my hair out of my bobble and brushing it, for once being thankful that my hair was naturally quite straight, because it meant I didn't need to do much to it.

----------------------

The streets were way too quiet compared to what we were used to. We only passed three people on a street st the most, and I felt a lot more comfortable walking down there knowing there weren't groups of people watching our every move until we got to the end of the street!

"How do you know if there even is a café around here? We've been walking for fifteen minutes, back at my mum's we would have passed like, five by now!" I asked, looking down every street I could to find somewhere, at the rate we were going at the closest off licence didn't sound so bad for breakfast.

"Because, there are always cafés! And we don't have to keep wondering around like lost sheep... Look, I spy a local! Maybe she can give us directions!" She replied, walking fast towards the tall figure on the other side of the road. "Excuse me, miss!" Abbie yelled, now running towards the figure. As it turned around I noticed something that Abbie obviously still hadn't.

"Abbs, I'm not sure you're using the correct pronouns.." I whispered before we stopped in front of the tall person. I could see embarrassment wash over Abbie quicker than ever before as the person spoke.

"I'm no miss, but if you need help, I might be able to offer assistance?" He laughed, his eyes studying my best friend's face.

"Actually, we were wondering if there are any cafés around here? We've been looking for a while, you see, and the hunger is really starting to dawn on us.." Abbie explained, pretending to rub her stomach like she always had done since we were in primary school (I guess some habits never go away).

"Of course, there's one just down this road, take the next left, then another left when you get to the end and the best place to ever eat sits right on the corner!" He said, momentarily moving his glance over to me for a split second, sending a smile to me. "Hope I was of use to you, now if you excuse me I have to do something for my dad. Maybe I'll have the pleasure of meeting you again?" He finished, nodding at Abbie before walking off in the direction we had just come from.

"Wow, a stranger that was nice to us!" Abbie said, raising her eyebrow, "now that's something I could get used to!".

"Yeah, yeah. Forget about it before you even ask, I came out here to live alone and find myself, you can visit all you like, but not live with me. Now, how about breakfast?"

-----------------------

Everybody you found yourself talking to treated you with respect, it was almost too good to be true. Abbie tried to pass of the idea that it was sure not to last, that once I got settled everything would suddenly seem hectic. To be honest I didn't entirely want her to go back home, but her boyfriend, Max, called her asking her to be his date for his aunt's birthday meal.
