My parents are both dead. There was a fire in Penbrook house and everyone was safely out except a little girl named Julie. We could hear her screams through the fire, walls and smoke. The firefighters hadn't arrived yet and if the girl stayed trapped in there any longer the ceiling would surely collapse and kill her. My parents, being the heroes that they were, thought that it was a brilliant idea to go in and risk BOTH of their lives. Only 1 person came back and I feel horrible saying it but i wish that it hadn't been the girl. The building collapsed right after she came out, murdering my parents. The girl's parents came to apologize for my loss but i could see that there was no sadness in their eyes, only joy that their girl was alive. I pretended to be nice to them and then i promised myself that i would never talk that girl or her family again. It just wasn't fair. 1 life for 2 deaths.

After the fire, i was taken to the police station and waited while someone offered to take care of me. When they found someone they told me to go back to my house and wait until someone arrived. I got to still live in my house which was a plus but i still didn't know who would be my foster family. For all i knew, it could have been that girl's parents because they felt sorry for me. I desperately hoped it wasn't. Thankfully the dreadful weight was lifted when Mrs Clitmay entered the house carrying 5 suitcases. It was a mystery to me how she did it. I think it should be a World Record. When i looked closer, i also saw that there were some leashes hanging from her left hand which connected to some sort of fluffy animals dragging behind.

Everyone and everything entered and those "fluffy animals" turned out to be cats. I couldn't help myself. A grin made its way up my face. I adored cats. I had always wanted a cat but my mom was allergic and my dad hated them. Now there were 7 cats in my house and i would practically own them. Mrs Clitmay noticed my joy and smiled sincerely. She was probably the kindest person in town and it wasn't that much of a surprise that she would be my new family. Her husband and son had died in a car accident and she was a lot like me except much nicer. We both liked to read and loved cats. This wouldn't be so bad.
