Fun fact: Kyle was supposed to be a generic, good guy protagonist and was supposed to become captain after James got killed, but when I started writing I noticed how I'd written Kyle a lot more interesting than I intended and I liked James too much to kill him without any real development. Funny how things turn out that way.
