While spreading a light blanket of margarine on an untoasted piece of seeded bread a memory of my childhood came flooding back to me.

My big brother and I never really played “house” when we were young. We were more likely to play the roles of storm chasers or some kind of video game character trying to avoid the lava by jumping on the various pillows and couch cushions we had splayed all over the basement. We would play Sonic the Hedgehog for hours. He would play Sonic and I would play his two-named sidekick, Tails…also known as Miles. From what I remember we would spend the bulk of our time running around like maniacs, collect the paper rings that he had made and trying to battle the evil Dr. Robotnik was a must. Every so often we would run out of steam…and what better way to recharge than a good ol’ chilidog. But of course we couldn’t have our mom prepare us chilidogs whenever we needed to energize, so we compromised. A folded piece of white bread with a little bit of margarine would do the trick.
