"C'mon Huckleberry, at least put more effort into going up these stairs," I huffed out as I tried to help a very drunk Lucas walk.  There were two flights of stairs until we reached my apartment and if he didn't get himself together, I was leaving him here.

"I'm trying Maya, but it's not exactly that easy when you're seeing two of everything," Lucas said with a frustrated groan.

After lots of work and a couple of tumbles down the steps, we finally arrived at my door.  I unlocked it and the two of us entered my dark apartment.  As usual, my mom was out working at the diner and she didn't come back until six o'clock in the morning.  Since Shawn proposed, she's been working more shifts to pay for their upcoming wedding.

"Are you sure your mom or Shawn won't mind me staying over, I mea-"

I cut him off and shook my head, "Stop worrying so much, Moral Compass.  We've been dating for almost two years, she's never minded then and she won't mind now.  Plus, Shawn's out of town right now, so you don't need to worry about him."

Geez, even when he's drunk, he's still cautious.

He put his hands up defensively, "Hey I'm just double checking, remember last time I got caught sleeping in the same bed as you?"

I chuckled at the thought of the last time he got caught.  It was after we both fell asleep while watching a movie and Mr. Matthews, for whatever reason, decided to visit me.  He saw the two of us sleeping and he literally yanked Lucas out of bed and chased him four blocks away from my apartment.  I've never seen Lucas run so fast before.

"C'mon, let's get ready for bed.  I need some sleep," I grabbed his hand and walked towards my room.

As we entered my bedroom, Lucas pulled me close to him and gave me a kiss on the lips.  Lucas always got this way when he was drunk, deciding to tease him a bit, I kissed him back.  After a while, Lucas pulled away and whispered, "We don't have to sleep."

I pulled away further and saw a smirk on his lips, "Not tonight Ranger Rick, I'm tired as hell and you're drunk."

He gave me puppy dog eyes and sad pout, "You're no fun."

I turned around and walked towards my closet, picking out some clothes to sleep in.  Deciding to tease Lucas further, I picked some short black soffe shorts and one of Lucas' big shirts he left here before.  I stripped out of clothes and put on my pajamas, tossing the dirty ones in my hamper.

The entire time, I didn't hear a single noise from Lucas, so I turn to look at him and see him standing in the same exact spot looking at me.  I smirked at him, "Stop sulking Huckleberry, it's not a good look on you.  Also, close your mouth and wipe the drool off your chin."

Lucas snapped out of his daze and went to wipe his mouth with his hand, but soon realized there was no drool.  He groaned and said, "You can't do that to me Maya, you're such a tease."

"Consider this part of your punishment for making it so hard to go up the stairs," I said as I walked towards my bed and lied down.

While I was getting under the blanket, Lucas finally began to move.  He took off his shirt and jeans, grabbed shorts from his drawer of things he leaves here, and climbed into bed next to me.  I felt him wrap his arm around me, pulling me closer to his body.

"Goodnight Maya," he whispered while leaving a kiss on my forehead.

   "Goodnight Lucas."

*********

When I woke up, I heard two voices outside my door.  I turned my head to check the time and read 7:30.  I recognized one of the voices to be my mom and the other one sounded male.  Due to it being so early, it took me awhile to think of who it was, but it finally dawned on me that it was Shawn.  What was Shawn doing here?  He's supposed to out of town?

"Katy, you shouldn't let him sleep in the same bed as Maya, they're both extremely young!  I'm going to kick that boys ass when he wakes up!"

"Shawn calm down, I know Lucas and he wouldn't do a thing to hurt Maya.  You need to stop overreacting," I heard my mom say in a calming voice.

Wait, how do they know we're sleeping in the same bed?

That's when alarm bells started going off in my head.  They saw us sleeping and Shawn must've walked in.  Suddenly, I start waking up Lucas.

"Ranger Rick!  Wake up!  Like right now, you need to wake up!" I whispered frantically.

All I got was a groan from Lucas, but he was still fast asleep.

"Lucas Friar you better wake up right now and get dressed because you are about to get your ass kicked by Shawn if he sees you shirtless in my bed."

Lucas shot up frantically as I said that and he moved so fast to grab his shirt.  As he was pulling it over his head, the door slammed open and in walked an angry Shawn Hunter.

"You," Shawn said angrily while pointing his finger at a very frightened Lucas, "Are in a lot of trouble.  If you think you are able to get away with sleeping in the same bed as Maya, well you have a lot coming your way.  You two are way too young to be doing this, I mean have you even had the sex talk?"

Neither one of us responded, too embarrassed to say we have, but Shawn took interpreted it the opposite way.

"Wait you haven't?" Shawn yelled incredulously.  "Well then the two of you and I are going to have a long conversation right now."

Shawn moved to sit on my bed, but luckily my mom came in to stop him.

"Okay, that's enough Shawn.  I don't think now is a good time to be doing this, considering they just woke up," my mom said in calming voice.

   "Katy,  I really think-"

"No Shawn, come on.  Let's just go grab breakfast and allow the two of them to freshen up," she said while walking Shawn out of my room.

When the two of them finally left and shut the bedroom door, Lucas and I let out a sigh of relief.

"I'm really sorry about that, Lucas.  Guess Shawn came to surprise my mom and I," I said apologetically.

He walked towards me and gave me a hug, "It's fine, I mean I was kind of expecting that.  It's kinda like in the movies where the dad walks in on his daughter and her boyfriend and then he gives them a talk an-"

"Wait what did you just say?"

"I said it's like in the movies where the dad walks in-"

I interrupted Lucas once more and said, "The dad, huh?   So this is what it's like to have a dad?"

Realization came across on Lucas's face as he realized what I was saying, "Yeah I guess it is, I mean it might be a little different considering your a girl and I'm a guy, but it's the same principles."

So this is what it's like to have a dad?  One that will come barging in your room threatening the boy you love for sleeping in the same bed as you?  One that will threaten to kick the boy's ass if he hurts you?  I could get used to this.
