Chapter 2: The Real Me

My real name is Hannah Carter. I don't live a perfect life let alone a normal life. You may be wondering why I kill, not because I want to but I have to. This is the only way my mother can be safe and living. It is complicated but I will try my best.

I had two loving parents who would do anything for me. I wasn't spoiled but all I needed was love from my parents. They would always try to get something for me even though we couldn’t afford much. They would always tell me to fight for what I want no matter the costs. What I didn't know when I was little was that my dad lost his job and needed money fast or else we would get kicked out of our apartment. He loaned some money from Jack but he couldn't pay him back in time. Here is where it gets interesting.

It all started on a chilly September when I was home listening to a story about a princess with long hair. I remember my mom screaming yet so calming that it was time to eat. We all gathered at the table and began our prayers. It was my turn to pray as I closed my eyes and for some reason felt a million cuts all over me. I opened my eyes and saw the window smashed and my dad on the floor pleading sympathy. I saw a man on top of him pointing a gun at his face. I could taste the salty tears running down my face. I was so scared and all that went through my mind was fight for what you want and I wanted my parents alive. I bent down and was unseen; I grabbed a knife and killed the man who killed my dad. Another man was about to kill my dad I raised the knife with power but he said stop in a serious voice. For some reason he wasn't scared at all he told me these exact words "You love your mommy right, and then come with me and we won't hurt her." I nodded and told him give me a minute. I ran to my mom crying on the floor. She told you don't have to do this but I looked away to not regret making this decision. I kissed her cheek and tasted her salty tears flowing down her face. I told her "I'm fighting for what I want, for you to be alive." I got up and started walking to the man. I could hear my mom screaming and sobbing “don’t do it, please.” I didn't look back because it would only make me cry even more.

As I went in the van he told me why he wanted me. He told me I had the potential to fight and kill. He was going to bring me to The Undercover Assassination Organization, T.U.A.O for short. In my head I said ya I can fight but ki-. I hesitated realizing that he saw me kill the man. He said if I joined they would leave my family alone. That's all I ever wanted so I had to agree. That is why I kill but I will never love doing it.
