"YOU'RE GETTING WHAT?!"

"Honey, I'm getting married. Aren't you happy for me?" my mom said to me for what felt like the millionth time and i still couldn't get it through my head.

I could feel the word vomit coming. I was going to start ranting, not that I wasn't happy for my mom but, I was a nobody in this town and Lachlan basically revolves around the Smith's.

"Mom. you know I am I just...isn't it a bit sudden. I mean you started dating Dan about six months ago and I read on Google that it takes at least an average of a year for couples to get married. and hes the town's mayor. Lachlan basically revolves around Asher and Dan and oh my god Asher is going to be my step-brother. Wait! Were are we going to live this house isn't big enough for us, at least not now, an-"

"Laura!" my mom yelled snapping me out of my incoherent babble

"Im sorry. I have to go to school but we'll talk when I get back. I promise."

I should clear some things up.

I am Laura Weston, a senior at Lachlan High School, and that was my mom, Karen Weston (soon-to-be Smith) and we live in Lachlan, North Carolina a small, yet pretty rich, town by the coast. Dan Smith my mom's fiance is the town mayor, everyone, and I mean everyone, LOVES him and his son, Asher Smith.

All the girls at Lachlan High School swoon at the mere sign of him.

It's kind of like a monarchy here, Dan Smith being the king and Asher the prince.

Oh! and god forbid we forget Emerson Prescott. The town's player/star quarterback/annoying stuck up rich kid. Asher and Emerson have been best friends since the beginning of time.

Me, on the other hand, I am the complete opposite. I have two friends Brooke and Haley, it's been just us three since second grade. My father left me and my mom when I was two, I don't remember him much and I rather it stay that way.

My mom had me when she was 16 and even with me shebecmae a doctor and works at Lachlan Community Hospital. We have a pretty awesome relationship, it also helps that she is a literal teenager at heart.

Well, this is my life and that's how I like it, although deep down I knew that it would soon change, and hopefully for the better.
