It's a chilling November night in New York State.
Snow adorns every rooftop, making every dwelling look like a ginger bread house.
or a gingerbread skyscraper..
over in slummy, frost bitten Tribeca, the warehouses creak their rusting, clattering song in the fierce wind.
A snowstorm is brewing, whipping itself into a frenzy, driving all street dwellers away to seek warmth and comfort.
The powerful wind flings clumps of snow everywhere, sapping the colour from the world.
The only bright spot, is a dark green roller door, the workers entrance to a warehouse nobody has ever used.
A limousine pulls up in front of it, so out of place with it's sleek angles and rich aesthetic.
Ashleigh smirks.
she waits for the driver to open the door for her, then she sweeps out of the black, shiny car with a little known grace, a faint aura of her scent trails behind her, the poor man catching the perfume of her flesh and sighing openly.
Ashleigh glances over her shoulder at him, disdain in her thoughts but a playful smile on her lips, which she shoots his direction, watching the effect it has on the man, amused.
He is quite young, with greyish white skin and a nervous twitch in his left wrist, as if he's spent a little too much time alone. His greasy flap of fair hair is tangled and a few patches of stubble grace his badly shaven, weak chin.
Ashleigh gifts him another dazzling smile and turns, walking towards the green roller door, wrinkling her nose instead to block out the youth's pungent cologne.
She throws a wad of cash bound together with a red ribbon over her shoulder to land in the boys hand, saying carelessly "You should leave now. I'd hate to keep your next customer waiting."
The boy hesitates
"But miss.…" his voice breaks a little. "This is the edge of tribeca… thi.. This is gang territory…"
"And?" Ashleigh asks, without looking at him, studying the door with interest.
"I'd be leaving you ..all alo..alone" he stutters, going a currant red colour when Ashleigh looks at him.
"Aww that's so sweet of you" she says with a smile so sweet it's almost sickening.
"But i wouldn’t be worried about me, I'll be fine."
"No really miss, ..maybe you shouldn't be he…"
Before he can finish, she's shot him a look of pure steel, and he flinches, taking the hint and backing into the car, bumping his head on the doorframe.
He shuts the door on his tie, struggles with it, tearing it a little before managing to get it uncaught.
He drives off, a little faster than was necessary, swerving on the gravel outside the warehouse.
Ashleigh's smirk has taken it's place again.
She looks back at The Green Roller door.
taking a deep breath, she pulls the dark green envelope out of her handbag.
she slits it open with a finger, finding inside a small square of paper with the words written in green ink:
Gathering Day
"what does that mean?" Ashleigh exclaims.
she is so surprised she drops the envelope, and reaching down to pick it up, she notices another piece of paper stuck under the door with a green arrow pointing towards the door itself.
Written under the arrow are the words
COME IN
