Kai
As soon as I heard the beep beep from my alarm clock I jumped out of bed, put on a blue t-shirt, black pants and a black beanie, and ran downstairs to make breakfast. "First day of college!" I said to myself, excited. I took six eggs out of the fridge and cracked then into a pan. Danielle walked into the kitchen with her unicorn pajamas on.
"Why are you so excited? Isn't college super hard?" She said, perplexed.
I patted the top of her curly head and smiled. "It might be hard, but I get to do something I love. You'll understand one day."
She smacked my hand and grunted. "I already understand!"
I smirked. "Whatever you say, Dani."
I finished cooking the eggs and heated up some sausage to go with it. I gave Danielle her plate of food and sat next to her with mine, leaving the rest for my parents.
Danielle ate some of her eggs then looked at me. "So when are you getting a girlfriend?" She asked, smirking.
I choked on my breakfast but recovered quickly. "I um..." I scratched the back of my dreads. "I dunno."
Danielle laughed. "Uh huh. I'll see you later." She washed her dishes and walked over to her room.
"See you."
I cleaned my dishes, grabbed my camera and got in my car. "This should be interesting." I thought, backing out of the driveway.
When I got to the college I was amazed at how beautiful it was. I loved the almost rectangular shape and how the windows covered the entire building. I parked my car and walked over to the entrance where there were two women giving me a strange look.
One woman handed me booklet. "Welcome to the Maryland Institute College of Art!" She said, putting on a fake smile. "That's the map of the school so you can find your way around the building after getting signed in. Have a good day!" She finished talking and went back to staring at me.
"Thank you very much." I said, smiling. Nothing was going to ruin my day. I walked through the doors and headed over to the front desk to sign in. The lady at the front handed me a tablet to fill in my information. As soon as I finished filling out everything, I got the room number for my first class and used my map to find it.
After walking up three flights of stairs, I finally found the room that said "Photography" and walked inside.
The class was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. There were only seven students, including me.
The teacher welcomed me in. "Hello! My name is Mr. Davis, and you must be Kai Lewis." He said with a friendly smile. Mr. Davis looked like a middle aged hipster. He wore an unbuttoned red plaid shirt over a black t-shirt and had many different band bracelets. To top it all off, he had black glasses and a red beanie.
I nodded. "That's me."
"Excellent! You can have a seat wherever you'd like."
I sat in the front of the class, where I thought I would learn the most, and took out my camera.
Three guys came over to my desk. "Nice camera!" One guy said. He shook my hand. "I'm Tyler. This is Sam and Benjamin." Sam and Benjamin waved.
"Thanks! My name is Kai Lewis. " I said, waving to them.
"Are you related to the black lady, Mrs. Lewis?" Benjamin asked.
