A sharp pain erupted in his chest. His eyes flew open, he bolted upright and spluttered. He felt hands slap his back. He coughed until most of the water was out of his lungs. As soon as he could move he pulled away from the hand and twisted round. He scanned the room he was in. The walls and the floor were plain apart from a solid iron door. There was another boy who must have been hitting his back. Looking over himself he realised he was soaking. He had no idea why. Hundreds of questions buzzed in his mind that he asked the simplest ones first.

"Who are you? Where am I?" The boy demanded. The person who was behind him stepped back and a sudden look of panic crossed his face.

"M...my n...n....name is J....Ja....Jack." The boy stuttered. Jack was about 10 years younger than the other boy. As Jack's face twisted into fear the other boy realised his age. He softened his gaze.

"I'm Cole. It's nice to meet you." Cole smiled and stuck his hand out. Jack took it tentatively but soon realised he was genuine and relaxed.

"Tell me about you. How did you get here?" Cole gently asked Jack.

"I'm 8. I go to school. I love my mummy and my daddy very much. I'm scared. I'm tired and hungry. The last thing I remember is falling." Jack looked at Cole, fatigued and panicked,

"Why am I here Cole? I'm normal! What do they want with me?!" Jack shouted. He couldn't hold it back anymore, Jack collapsed into a sobbing pile on the floor. Cole rushed over to him,

"I don't know Jack but I'all get us out of here." Cole reassured Jack but he couldn't feel quite sure himself.

Jack looked up at Cole, his eyes filled with hope. Cole stared at Jack's innocent face. Jack had short, light brown, soft but dirtied hair. His green eyes glistened with tears. In those eyes Cole saw pain, great pain, and sadness. Something no one should ever have to experience, especially a young, innocent 8-year-old child like Jack. His face was round and freckled. His cheeks were rosy and chubby. He had a few scratches and bruises on his arms and face. Call compare Jack's face to his own. He thought he must look odd with his ginger hair plastered to his face and dripping. Cole's eyes looked like hazelnuts. They didn't really stand out from his unmarked and tanned skin. Jack's skin looked so pale next to Cole's. Cole looked over Jack's clothes. They were too small for him and had small tears in many places.

Jack was wearing a light yellow T-shirt which was muddied so much that it appeared brown. Calls eyes glazed over and he studied Jack for a moment. Jack's clothes were muddied, his face was dirty but his hands were clean. This boy had never done a bad thing intentionally, maybe that's why he's here. Cole thought. He opened his mouth to say something. There was a click. The door swung open.
