Everything happened after the third jolt. Semia was pushed to the far end of the room in the rush. She tsked and got out of her seat to join Alex at the door
They were in the car park in a few minutes, having opted to take a barely used back route. The dome shook once more, and the electromagnetic projection surrounding Paragon Tech lashed the air with occasional bursts of electricity.
The clear dome now had the quality of a vibrating water surface. Yet, everyone seemed more curious than afraid.
Field workers, she realised. They all had broken radars.
Semia didn't have time to speculate the physics of everything buzzing around her. She pushed through the crowd of long limbed men to the front.
Lesly stood a few feet from everyone else and joining him, she gave him a once-over.
He may have ratted her out to her mum, but her was still her brother. Her responsibility.
The first person she saw on the other side of the fence was a big, burly cyborg. He was huge and mean looking. His face was covered in scars almost hiding a gorgeous set of hooded pale green eyes and a straight nose.Unlike most cyborgs, his head was in agreement with the rest of his hulking figure but he wasn't tiny by cyborg standards either. The veins in his arms looked like angry road links threatening to split his skin.
That's what you get for collapsing your veins from toxin overdose. Semia thought with a hint of admiration.
Ma's impassive face lingered on Lesly before drifting to Semia's and settling in a tight line. In one hand she held a whip. Without looking away from Semia, she stretched her arm, pressing a button to make the whip hiss and twitch like an electrocuted snake. This was specifically designed to inflict pain on enhanced bodies.
In seconds, it rained down lashes on the cyborg's back. Each twitch was a lash on its own. The hulk of a man arched his back, and with a scream somewhere halfway between a whale in pain and a collapsing building, landed a heavy blow on the now semi-visible barrier, creating a disturbance in the air, but still the dome did not budge.
Inside the dome, the impact on the dome set run through everyone's teeth and pierced their ears. The hunched down, hand over ears to protect from the reverberating sound waves. It knocked on their heads, upsetting their sense of balance and creating the feeling of their vision being re-moulded, like they were looking through disturbed water.
The ground wobbled and stretched, tilted and teetered. Or at least it felt that way to Semia. She crouched low, gritting her teeth through the chaos.
He hit it once more, with more passion - more pain. The torture and affliction saturating his voice overshadowed everyone else's as his fist connected with the dome once more.
Alex wished it was the end. Not only could he sense the man's pain. He could taste it - a dull metallic taste rolling on his tongue and it wasn't pleasant. He inched closer to his first priority, hunching over her to reduce the intensity of the vibrations.
Kahma sped out of the building and straight towards Yvez. Her fingers elongated to whips of their own and slashed at the woman. Coated in blood, Kahma lashed out a second time eliciting a small whimper from Yvez.
The cyborg grabbed hold of Kahma's whip and she reversed her tires, pushing down on the stoppers and squeezed his neck. It was a sight to see - Kahma and the Cyborg, the perfect band name.
