"Everybody I would like to say that we have a new student joining us today, they are called Riley, I want you all to be nice to them and welcome them to our school with open arms!" Chirped Miss Gregory, knowing the comments that were about to bombard her she swiftly sat down and sighed.

"Miss is he annoying?" Yelled one of the indecipherable voices from the back.

"Aw miss I just started liking these people, don't tell me I have to 'adjust' to another one?" Called out Chloe the most basic girl you would ever meet.

Just as another quizzical or insulting comment was about to ring out across the class room the door groaned and squeaked revealing a slightly disheveled figure, judging by the stunned silence it was definitely not what anybody in the class had been thinking would appear in the doorway.

A slim figure with fleeting dirty blonde hair and endless chestnut eyes stood or rather stumbled in the hallway just outside of the class room. Before speaking she poked her head in through the opening "Um... Is this Miss Gregory's room" she said glancing down at a paper in her hands.

"Yes it is. Are you Riley?" Miss Gregory questioned, although everybody predicted that she knew the answer.

"Yeah I am, um... What should I do?" Riley asked while stepping into the room and looking around as if she was trying to find an exit."

"You can sit next to Noah." Miss Gregory ordered before pointing at a seat by the window and next to a tall boy who looked around 15.

During registration all Riley seemed to be able to do was stare, not around the class room at her new peers but at Noah, the boy sitting next to her. A twisted scar reaching from his right eyebrow cascaded across his face, she could only just see the end of the scar because it curved under his square jawline. Trying to look away was hard because there were so many questions running through her head. By the end of registration she had plucked up the courage to ask where it came from, however once the bell rang out he slipped his bag on and left without speaking to anyone on his way out.

That was when Riley's curious side decided that she needed to know why Noah had the scar, why he had just left before being dismissed and why nobody had asked him what he was doing.

Sorry for this chapter being really bad, it is just a chapter for filling in the gaps and making everything understandable when I get to the main plot, so don't worry because it won't all be boring like this chapter was.
