I still remember the day you left me, I walked aimlessly around the house. I wanted to feel your presence but my legs were numb so when I wandered around my house that day, I fell. I fell so many times and cried. Is this really love? Is it?
"You don't need him anyways. Don't worry", I look up at Daisy's lips saying those words. I'm laying in her lap in the middle of her cramped room. When I told her the news that my boyfriend, well, ex-boyfriend I should say, left me, she told me to come over. As soon as I arrived her mother greeted me in the usual "how are you" and the dry conversation that follows. I couldn't cry this time. Not yet. Daisy's room was unlocked, she was prepared for me. Considering she never keeps her bedroom door unlocked because of her brother, the absence of the usual knock I gave her felt weirdly intrusive. I sat down on the floor across from her and she put her phone down.
"What happened this time?" Daisy asked, I thought I heard a bit of annoyance in her voice but I was probably just imagining things.
"I couldn't stand the words he told me and the way he lied. I couldn't deal with it, I snapped and now he's gone."
Daisy beckoned me to her lap, even though I'm taller than her, she was quite good at making sure I was okay and comfortable; it just so happened I was most comfortable with her so that's how things usually panned out.
"You know he didn't deserve you. Not at all. I know that sounds cliche but it's true." Daisy blinked. I blinked back. Daisy's mouth hinted at a smile but stopped. I poked her stomach because I don't like seeing her not happy. She immediately giggled.
"I'm glad I have you", I said without thinking.
"I know you do. If you have me you won't need anything." Daisy was always very blunt with what she would say.
"You don't need him anyways. Don't worry", I look up at Daisy's lips forming those words, and god do I feel nostalgic.
