Their mother was at a certain point of hysteria. She was mumbling incoherent sentences while screaming and bawling her eyes out with fresh tears.

The cop was trying his best to get the little girl and her brother out of the room, but they were smarter than most 13 and 15 year old kids. They were old enough to know that something was wrong.

Amitty tore away from the officer's grip first and flung herself towards her mother while Jason muttered profanities as another cop came to help restrain him.

"What happened?! Mom! Tell me what is going on?" Jason yelled from across the room as he got dragged further into the living room while Amitty whispered in her mother's ear softly to tell her what had happened.

Amitty and Jason were both trying not to cry for the sake of their mother, but it was hard to keep the tears in.

"Mom, you're scaring us... What happened?" Amitty sobbed dropping to her knees in front of her mother who was hiccuping and pounding the ground with her pale hands as another wave of hysteria washed through her.

The next words she screamed froze the cells in Jason's body and completely shattered Amitty's heart into a million pieces.

"Your father is dead! Someone killed him! He's dead... Oh my god he's dead!" Their mother screamed as fresh tears from her aching heart poured out as the realization that the assassination was actually done, hit her once more.

Amitty turned to Jason when she couldn't hear the struggles from the cops anymore. She stared at him for a long time before they both ran to each other and cried in each other's arms.

Their minds, hearts, and souls were frozen with a painful numbness.
