The car ride to get to Orlando is boring. I'm sitting in the back seat and playing on my phone. I pause the game and ask "how long do you think until we get there?"
My dad looks at the GPS and then says "it's going to be about four hou-"
"HARRY NO!"
My mom screams, pointing ahead.
My dad swerves to avoid the truck, but it's too late. The last thing I hear is shattering glass before I black out.I come to, finding myself being dragged across the grass.
"Oh God, oh God, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry!"
I turn around to see who said this and see a man through my blurred vision dragging me away from my car.
"Wha...?" I slur and he gently drops me to the ground. I hear him call the police and I try to stand up.
One problem with that.
I can't move my legs.
My vision gets hazier and I hear him talking frantically in the phone. I try to ask him about my parents but I can't get the words out. Everything goes dark.I wake up inside a white room.
The hospital.
But why am I here? The off white door opens and a blond woman with stick straight hair and kind gray eyes walks over to me in a nurse outfit.
"And how are you doing, sweetheart?"
"Ok," I croak and I realize how thirsty I am.
"That's great! My name is Nicole, and if you need anything just press the red button, sweetheart."
"Water," I rasp out, I can hardly speak.
Nicole's eyes widen. "Of course, you've been out for about three weeks!"
And it all comes crashing down on me. The car crash, the man dragging me out of my car, not being able to feel my legs.
My legs.
I sit up and swing the thin blanket off of me.
They still look the same, tanned but bruised up.
I try to swing them off the bed and almost fall out.
"No, no no " I cry, pinching my legs and trying to move them.
"Oh honey," Nicole looks at me with pity clear in her eyes.
"I'm sorry Elizabeth, but you're paralyzed from the waist down for life."Ok so this is my first story and tbh sorry if it's cringey or childish sounding. I will try to improve, and all that. Thanks to anyone who actually read this!!! :)
