Prologue
This was the moment. The moment we'd been waiting for. All of our hard work and dedication led us to this one moment.
"And the winner of the Minnesota state cheerleading competition is..."
I took deep breaths, holding onto Sabrina and Alison's hands, probably cutting off all circulation. Of course, they were doing the same thing, so it didn't really matter, anyway. My eyes were sealed shut, and I was shaking. This dramatic pause had gone on far too long. The suspense was eating me alive.
"The North Star Polar Bears!"
My eyes snapped open. I immediately looked at Sabrina, and we both started screaming. Alison, Sabrina, and I, plus all the other girls that were sitting on the ground, stood up. We engulfed our teammates in a ginormous hug
"And now would the captains for North Star High please come up to receive your first place trophy?"
Three of our seniors, Kelsey, Jessie, and Sam, walked out to the center to get our trophy. They were all in tears. Well, the happy kind of tears, that is.
My team just won state. My team just won state! This was, by far, the best day ever.
