Never Too Late

Maybe he's my reason..

- Next Day -

I woke up and realized I was still on the couch and laughed at Bear. I got up and made my tea and remembered I had work today. I groaned and got in the shower to start getting ready.

While I was in the shower Bear had managed to get himself in my room and he started chewing on the corner of the bathroom door.

I got out of the shower and looked at the door and punished Bear and then put him in his cage and got ready for work.

I did my usual makeup, put my uniform on and grabbed my keys and went out and started my car.

I came back in and let Bear out. Once he was done his business I put him back in his cage and gave him a treat and locked the front door and before I knew it I was at McDonald's.

I got my usual large strawberry smoothie and decided I should probably eat something so I got a fry. I was getting ready to pay when a guy came up and handed the cashier a 20 and said " Add another fry and a large coke please."

She did as he asked and took his money. I looked at him confused.

"You don't even know me, why would you do that?" I said.

"I would hate to see a beautiful girl like you have to pay for her own stuff. My name is Larry, and I would love to get to know you." He says while reaching his hand out to mine to shake it.

I rolled my eyes, and said "I was perfectly fine with paying for it myself. My name is Jade, and I would but as soon as my food is ready I have to leave. It's my first day at my new job and i would hate to be late."

He nodded his head, "Yeah, that would be a bad first impression. Well, how about this take my number and text me when you get in your car and I'll get to know you through text until we can see each other again?" and handed me a piece of paper with his number on it.

I laughed, " You think you're slick don't you? Maybe I will text you when I get out to my car, maybe I won't. We'll see." When they called our number for our food I grabbed my smoothie and fries and said goodbye to Larry and went out to my car.

After I started the car I took my phone out, and put Larry's number in my contacts. I didn't text him yet though, I want to but I don't want to seem like I think he's cute. Yes, I do think he is cute but I'm not sure I'm ready for a relationship or anything yet. I just moved out of my parents house, and moved some cities away from them, this is all new to me.

When I got to work I parked beside a really big white Ford truck in the employee parking spots. Wonder who drives that, I thought to myself. I went in the building and walked up to the locker room and put my purse in a locker and locked it.

I walked back downstairs and asked the service desk employee where I should go. It was the same lady that was here for my orientation, so at least I've seen someone here before. Anyway, she told me to go to the manager's office and ask her where she wanted me to train, so I did.

I knocked on the door twice and she opened it and smiled, " You must be Jade!"

"Yes, I am. The customer service desk person told me to come here and ask where you wanted me to train." I said still nervous

" Well, the thing is, the person you were supposed to train with just called in sick. So, you have a choice between who you want to train with today!" She said excitedly, and walked me over to the cashiers who were working. " You can train with Logan, or with Becky!"

I looked at my choices. The Logan kid didn't look very happy, and Becky was smiling and she looked happy so I chose her. " I guess I'll go with Becky, he doesn't really look like he wants to." I said to the manager. When I said that he looked at me and smiled. The manager looked at Becky, " Train her to do everything you do everyday you're here." Becky nodded and the manager walked away leaving us 3 standing there.

I looked at Becky, " I don't clock in for another 20 minutes so I'm going to go sit outside if you need me that's where I'll be."

She smiled at me and nodded, " Okay, don't get lost. I'll be on register 9 when you're ready!" I smiled and nodded back and looked at Logan, "I guess I'll be going then." and then walked outside to a bench and sat down.

After sitting there for a little I walked to my car to sit in there for the rest of the time. While I was on my way to my car I saw a shadow behind me so I turned around to see if I knew who it was and sure enough it was Logan. I got in my car and he got in the truck beside me and got something off of the seat and then knocked on my window, I unlocked the door and he got in.

"It's not that I didn't want to train you. I have a lot going on and I don't want to have you not know what you're doing because I can't focus on my job." He said to me looking at me.

I laughed, " I didn't take offense from it. It's okay, I don't mind working with Becky."

"I'll train you a different day if you want, today has just been a really bad day for me, my dad pasted away this morning." As soon as those words left his mouth he was crying.

" Why did you even come to work, you need to take a day off and relax." I said looking at him

"Working is the best thing for me right now, I need to get my mind off things, when I clock in I'll be focused on work, speaking of that we might want to go in and clock in." He said looking at the clock on my dashboard. I nodded and got out of the car after him and locked my doors again.

-After Work-

My first day was okay I guess. I just learned how to use the computer and how to bag the groceries, that's about all there is to learn. After I let Bear outside, we went upstairs and got ready for bed.

Once I was in bed I got on my phone and decided I should finally text Larry.

-Text messages-

Me- You didn't forget about me yet did you?

Mcdonalds cutie- If I knew who this was I could tell you if I forgot you.

Me- Ill give you a hint, you met me at mcdonalds today.

Mcdonalds Cutie- I could never forget you beautiful, you are to perfect to forget.

Me- Okay, good because I didn't forget you either, but i am going to bed. I figured I should text you so you didn't forget me. Goodnight, mystery cutie.

Mcdonalds cutie- Okay beautiful, ill talk to you tomorrow for sure. Goodnight, my queen.

And with that I was asleep.
