“Allie, I look ridiculous!” I pointed out, as my best friend furiously searched through clothing racks. She finally tore her attention away from the shiny new dresses, and looked me up and down.
“Damn!” she said, nodding her head. “You look H-O-T, hot! If I must say so myself, Allie is a miracle worker!”
I rolled my eyes, as I do every time she says things like that. "I look like a stripper in this! And don’t talk in 3rd person you dork!” I exclaimed playfully, still gazing at the mirror. I wouldn’t admit this to Allie, but I secretly liked this new look. But this was something only my secret, hot, sex-crazed alter ego could wear. But unfortunately no one has ever witnessed that side of me, and no one ever will. Nope, all people saw when I walked through the college campus was the plain Jade I am. Comfortable jeans, an oversized t-shirt, glasses, and the latest New York Times bestseller tucked away in my bag. Although sex-Jade loved herself in this outfit, I got more and more uncomfortable staring at myself and craved my old, ratted UVA t-shirt.
“Jade, stop! I know that look! Shush whatever annoying voice is in your head and buy that dress already! Pretty please!” she begged. I looked at myself one more time to see if I could actually wear this out tonight. Come on Jade, its just one night, and it’s your first time at a club.
I sighed and finally said, “Alright, fine! Go get my purse!”
I walked out of the store happily back in my t-shirt and jeans, and started to pull open the car door. “Ha! Eager are we now? Nice try Jade, but if your getting a dress, you have to get the “works.”
Oh gosh, I knew what this meant. Shoes. Hair. Make-up. Ughhh kill me! I put my hands up in surrender and pleaded sarcastically, “Why!?! Oh the fates! Tell my mother I love her! Dear Lord, let my soul roam free!”
“Ha. Ha,” she responded dryly. “Shut up, and get your ass in Louis Vuitton!”
