[CHAPTER THREE] The Truth

Beep.

I inhale slowly, taking in oxygen, and exhaling.

Beep.

I begin to stur a little, hearing a little noise.

Beep.

My eyes flutter open. I dont remember being in a room.... I thought I was outside?

Beep.

I look at what was making the noise and see a heart monitor. I sigh.

Beep.

Getting annoyed by the constant beeping noise, I rip off everything that was connected to me.

Beep. Beep. Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.

Now this is more annoying. I try in sit up, but notice that I am chained up as everyone runs into the room. Once they saw that I was still alive, they sighed in relief still panting. "I.... thought..... you died..... or something..." Beast Boy panted in between breaths, turning off that annoying heart monitor. I looked at him angrily, still not fully realizing that Slade had released me from being his.

"And why would you think that?!" I snap at him, fully knowing that we had fought yesterday, but still not realizing that I had lost.

"Umm, dude..... the.... beep, beep...... beeeeeeeee............ eeeeeep!" He pants, moving his arms around in exaerated hand gestures..

I roll my eyes. "Anyway," said Robin. I stare at him as he speaks. "We found this in the collar Slade had on you." He lifts up a bracelet with sparkly ring  around it and my real name woven into it in fire. Other elements could be seen clearly on the bracelet, giving a warm feeling to the bracelet.

My eyes widen in shock. Dad- er- Master told me he had destroyed it. When he did tell me that, I was devastated.

"G-Give it back!!!"

I cry out, pulling on the chains that bound me to where I was. Tears brim my eyes as I desperately tried to get out of the chains. At the moment, I completely forgot that I could use my powers. But, then again, they could have safety proofed it. And they stared at me. Like I was a monster. I felt as if they were draining my energy from me.

"No." Robin simply said with a smirk forming on his lips.

I was speechless. The only thing I ever loved in life was said to be destroyed, but now it returns, right in front of me in a matter of fact, but I can not have it back? They truely are monsters!!

"Why do you wish of the bracelet?" Starfire asks me. Why? WHY?! DO THEY NOT KNOW WHY?

"You already know! So- So give it back!!" I beg, almost letting tears escape my eyes.

"Actually," Cyborg states. "we dont know."

I breath heavily, my eyes staying locked on to my bracelet. "I-I.." my throat dries. What do I say? Should I trust them? Honestly, I dont give a shit anymore. I just want my bracelet!

"Thats- Thats the only thing I have left of my family!" Was the only thing I managed to choke out before fully breaking down into tears. The chains on my hands and feet were long enough that I could put them fully stretched out infront of me without problem. Also, I was currentl chained to a bed. But the bed went up so im standing- er.... was standng. I had fallen to my knees as my arms hung above me, my head turned away but dropped down miserably.

"Okay um..... we'll keep it a while longer then." Robin states hesitantly. Beast Boy suddenly whispers something in Robin's ear as he pockets the bracelet.

"Right." Robin nods. "She doesnt know?" Raven stares at Beast Boy. He shakes his head. "Well then........" she furrows her brows.
"F/n- or umm...... Y/n, you need to learn the truth." Beast Boy spoke whilst I stand up, wiping my tears away. I stare at him with a nod.

The group explains to me about everything. And when I say everything, I mean everything. They explained about good and bad, right and wrong, what the difference is between a villain and a hero.

"So he lied to me! Father lied to me!" I pull against my chains, outraged.

"Who is the father of yours?" Starfire questions.

"Slade."

The group stares at me in utter disbelief. "Your father is Slade?! The bad guy?! How? You- But- he- whhhaaattt?" Cyborg and Beast Boy gasps in perfect sync. I nod.

"But Slade doesnt look anything like you!" Robin looks at me, jaw dropped slightly.

"Im an orphan. I was adopted." I state bluntly. Now everyone looks shocked. "Why would anyone want to put you up for adoption?!" Beast Boy freaks out.
"Because Im a monster." I growl quietly. They all heard me, but I dont care.

After some time, Robin sighs. "Well, Im keeping this-" he pulls out my bracelet. But that doesnt go without notice. I look up at him in shock, tears forming in my eyes slightly.

"But why?!"

"For safe keeping. Who knows what you can do with this bracelet."
