I woke up screaming in pleasure, my muscles tightening. I was gripping the "sheets" and had  my legs clenched together. I finally let out a loud wail and climaxed, falling limp onto the "bed". I was soaked in sweat and panting heavily, feeling a bit too damp between the legs. I wasn't sure what came over me. I truly felt alive. I knew that the other patients more than likely heard my excitement, as well as the doctors. I remembered my dream quite clearly. Soon enough Dr. Gilligan rushed in to see me in person, covered in sweat and laid out on the table panting like a dog. "Amelia. What exactly was that?" In truth I had never experienced that before. "I-I don't k-know." I slowly sat up. I had never seen Dr. Gilligan's face so red. "Did you have any dreams?" I told him about the dream I had. He seemed a bit confused but wrote it down. "I'm bringing in a female doctor." With that he left the room. I sat on the table, with my breath finally caught. "AH-1, can you kindly explain to me what that little episode was?" Dr. Pauline walked in. I didn't like her at all. "I don't know." "AH-1, you say I don't know more than a toddler asks why. Take off your gown, I need to examine you." I reluctantly removed the hospital gown and dropped it, revealing my whole body. I was shaking slightly. I was a little underweight but lean otherwise. A strange liquid was oozing down my legs. Dr. Pauline looked a bit disgusted in me. "AH-1, I'm going to bathe you first." She walked me to the bathroom and started the water. I stood and watched, wiping some of the fluid off of my inner thigh with my hand to investigate. Afterwards, I just wiped it on the towel. Dr. Pauline had me get into the bath and bathed me as she always does. "Why did I do that?" I was genuinely confused. "Because sometimes bodies try to satisfy themselves as we sleep due to a dream. Sometimes we do other things in our sleep to." "Have you ever done that?" Dr. Pauline dropped the cloth in the tub. "Never." I decided not to ask her anything. She always told me I was an abomination as well as the rest of "my kind". Whatever that means. She tells me I am the work of the Devil. But I don't know what the Devil is. She's gotten in trouble for it, so recently she hasn't said a word. I got out of the bath tub and she dried me off and combed my hair. I guess she would be what humans call a "mother" to me. But if this is what a mother is, I don't think I'd even want mine to be alive. She checked my body. Nothing was different from before. She took notes and left the room. I put  my gown on and waited for Dr. Gilligan.  Right on time, he came in. "I'm sorry you had to deal with her again, Amelia. But to make it up to you, I thought we'd discuss your birthday." I stared at him. I had had birthdays before, but they were meaningless to me. Only he would come in with some food that didn't do anything for me and a box with a gift. I though for a moment how I could put that to use. I got mediocre things before. Dolls or brushes or other things like that. "I want to be free." Dr. Gilligan gave me an odd look. "I'll get you anything but that. You can't go outside yet, you won't fit into society. How about something else? A book?" I looked down. I had read the medical books here before. I was taught how to read, write, and do easy mathematics. I was taught medical history as well. Suddenly I had an idea. I looked around the room. "Amelia, is there anything else? Amelia?" I looked back to the doctor. "One of those plague masks. I want that." I had the perfect plan. Dr. Gilligan looked confused. "Why do you want a mask? You know you can't escape. The window is too small and you would be the only patient with a mask. Not to mention all the cameras." I frowned. "Then I want nothing but to be alone." I knew Dr. Gilligan only wanted me to be happy. In truth, the mask is not so I can escape. It's for when I escape. Dr. Gilligan sighed. "I'll get you the mask and another security camera. I'm sorry sweetie, but we can't trust you not to run. You aren't human." "Then tell me what's out there. And the things that aren't human like me." Dr. Gilligan seemed like he knew this would happen at some point. "In truth I'm not human either, but I fit in with society. Out there, there are things like witches, vampires, ghosts, were-creatures. It's like a fairy tale out there." I had a feeling he wasn't a human. But i didn't know there were so many of those- of us. "What are you?" I was too curious for my own good. "Why, Amelia. I'm a vampire." I sat quietly. "What was my father?" Dr. Gilligan was quite. "I have to go find you a mask, don't I?" And with that he left. I wasn't sure why he wouldn't just tell me. Why my father was such a secret. But I didn't care. He must not have cared for me enough anyways. "Amelia, remember me?" I turned around to see myself next to me. "Don't you think last night was fun?" I nodded slowly. "Why are you here when I'm awake, Amelia?" "Because I missed you. I want to be your friend like Gilligan is. I know you hate me." I looked away from myself. She kissed my cheek and vanished. I looked back to where she was floating. "Bye."
