AUTHORS NOTE
this is my first story I'm actually going to update regularly and finish properly without it being about something stupid hope you all enjoy please vote if you like it.

It was just a normal day working as a waitress, serving drinks and food. The money wasn't good but I was only 19 and lived in a small dirty apartment which i could barely pay for. I hoped I would be able to get a new job, but I lived far out from the town and I couldn't buy a car because I didn't have the money. It was already an hour and a half walk from the coffee shop I worked at to my home. It used to bother me when I first started here but I got used to it pretty fast.

It was only another hour before I got to leave, I can't wait to get home it's the only place I feel safe, because I live so far out I don't know many people who live near me except my good friend chloe. When I first moved into my apartment she helped me unpack, and came around for takeaways most weekends. I was glad I had someone I could always call for help when I needed it.

It was a relief knowing that chloe could pick me up everyday if she was free, she was always looking out for me. I was grateful for that, she knew I never liked the walk home. She would always ring if she wasn't coming or tell me the night before.

Tonight chloe couldn't come, she was working the night shift at her new job. As I packed my things up ready for my long journey home, a man who was in his 50s came. He was my last customer before I closed up the shop. He ordered a coffee and a sandwich and he wanted to eat in. I usually don't allow people to eat in after 8 but he looked like he had a long day so I said he could stay.

After his sandwich he slowly sipped his coffee then he started a conversation,
"Hi love my name is Kenneth, how old are you darling?"
I thought it was a strange question to ask but I knew he would be the last person I spoke to that night so I answered.
I'm 19"
He got out a note pad and started jotting things down.
"Where's your boyfriend it's getting dark shouldn't he be here to pick you up?"
"Oh I don't have one" I said with a slight grin
"A pretty thing like you shouldn't be walking alone at this time"
"I know, I need the money though or I won't have a house"
"Oh bless you love, do you live far from here?"
"No" I said hoping he would walk out the shop soon. "Only ten minutes away"
"Ok love, glad you don't live far. Here's some money to keep you going for a while."
He handed my an envelope filled with £20 notes, I counted them and in total he gave me £500, I was gobsmacked.
"Are you sure you want to give me all this money? I said in disbelief.
"Yes petal, now get yourself going before it gets any darker."
