"We like you. You did something dangerous."

"Oh."

"Do you know who we are?"

"No, sorry."

"Well, I'm Taylor."

"I'm Jack."

"I'm Aaron."

Aaron was the one holding on to me.

Taylor and Jack were the ones sitting across from me. Taylor was whispering something in Jack's ear.

His eyes widened.

"You beat up Jack Gilinsky?"

"Yeah, he deserved it. He's an asshole."

"I know." Jack said while gritting his teeth.

"They dated for a few months." Taylor said.

"He tried to keep our relationship a secret. So when I told one of his friends, he got mad at me."

"Jack is gay?" I asked.

"Bisexual." Jack answered.

"Why didn't he want his friends to know?"

"Jack thinks it would ruin his reputation."

"Who did you try to tell?"

"Nash Grier."

"I don't really like him." I said.

"No one here does."

It was silent, except for the fire crackling.

"So what is this? A club?" I asked.

"No, we're a cult." Taylor answered.

"I'm just kidding, we're just friends who come here to hang out."

"What do you guys usually do?"

"Actually, it's what we don't do."

"What?"

"We don't follow rules."

These guys are bad influences.

I like them.

"We do whatever the fuck we want to do."

Aaron finally let go of my arm.

"Cameron do you like girls?" He asked.

"Uh..."

"It's okay Cameron, we're all pretty much gay here."

I felt a rush of relief.

"Well in that case, I'm actually pretty gay too."

I saw Aaron smile from the side of my eye.

"So, why do you break the rules?" Taylor asked.

"What do you mean?"

"Why do you do these things? Like getting into fights, and skipping school?" He continued.

"I don't know."

He looked at me confused, obviously wanting a different answer.

"I do these things, because I know that others won't."

"Deep." Aaron said.

"What's your reason for doing these things?"

"I already told you, we do whatever the fuck we want. And this is what we want."

I checked my phone...again. 8:05pm.

"I should get going now." I said while standing up.

"Really? I know that it's a school night, but why so early?" Taylor asked.

School night? They probably don't know.

"You guys didn't hear?" I asked.

"Hear what?" They all asked in harmony.

"I got suspended for fighting Jack."

They gasped. "For how long?"

"One month."

"Oh. So then why are you leaving so early?"

"Well...I snuck out."

"Nice."

I brushed myself off and started walking away. "Wait." Taylor said.

I turned around.

"We'll be here tomorrow at eight o'clock. You can hang out with us."

I gave him a confident smile and walked away.

I walked out of the woods and started walking back home. I took my time because my mom goes to sleep at nine. It's only 8:12.

I walked in the cold night air for another half hour. Before I recognized the familiar houses from my neighborhood.

I walked to my house and went straight to the side of it. The bathroom window was open by just a crack.

I pushed the window open and crawled through. This is way too easy.

I walked out of the bathroom and my mom was in the living room. She was watching some reality TV show.

I quietly made my way to the stairs. Then I slowly climbed up the steps, hoping that my mom wouldn't notice.

I finally made my way to the top of the steps, then I tip-toed to my room.

I slowly shut the door before I plopped down on my bed. I pulled off my hoodie and threw it on the floor. A piece of paper fell out of the pocket.

I picked it up.

Aaron
(909)925-1526

Okay. I guess I have Aaron's number.

Maybe I'll text him tomorrow. I'm getting pretty fucking tired.

I put the piece of paper on my nightstand and I put my phone on top of it. I turned off my lamp and fell asleep.
