Day Outside

It's a summer day. It's pretty nice. I slide on my shoes and walk out onto the porch, sitting on the porch swing. The sun felt nice on my face. I have my hair up in a messy bun. My husband, Chris, is playing out on the lawn with our daughter, Amila. She's still a baby yet, only five months old. She looks just like her daddy. Chris picks Amila up and walks over to me. "Morning, beautiful," he says with a smile. I smile at him and plant a kiss on his cheek. "Morning, honey. How'd you sleep?" I ask.

Chris shakes his head to answer yes and I smile. "Good. We've got a long day," I say, stretching my arms. Amila climbs herself into my lap and I smile. "Such a big girl!" I say to her. She smiles, giggles, and shoves her hand into her mouth. Eh, she's a baby, that's normal. "Call up the boys; we're gonna sit outside today," I say.

-Time skip to later that night

Amila is sleeping now. We're sitting around a bonfire. The guys are sitting in chairs while I sit on the grass. It feels nice on my legs. "Hey, Molly," Chris says. I look up at him and he tosses me a can of Coca-Cola.

"Thanks, babe," I say. He nods. "So, question. Have any of you guys actually played an ouija board? For some guys who really know how to keep spirits away, you seem..." Chris stops me. "Ouija boards are dangerous, Mol. You know that God doesn't want us messing with them."

"Then why were they made?"

The guys were silent. "Besides, in a toy store, an ouija board costs three dollars and is for children eight and older! How harmful can they really be?" I say. Chris shakes his head. "We're not going into this, Molly." I roll my eyes at my husband's words. "It's an interesting topic," I snarl. The rest of the night was spent outside around the fire.
