"Kim Jonghae, you need to fix yourself," my mother continuously speaks as she tries to find me the right outfit."No, mum, it's fine. I'm fine the way I look," I stated calmly whilst pushing her hands away. At this point, her facial expression turned dull. She immediately left to check the laundry.
"Yah, Jonghae, hurry up," Namjoon, my older brother, snapped at me.
"Shur up," I glared at him. Namjoon smirked.
Namjoon is known for his well-built physique and good looks, while I'm stuck in the shadows all by myself. I don't make as much friends as I used to. I'm the type who prefers to be alone. My brother and his group of friends get a lot of attention, especially Park Jimin.
This is why I will never mount to what Namjoon has.
But do I have what it takes? Looking at myself, probably not. I'm not the definition of pretty. And I will never be.
"Hey," Namjoon appears out of the blue, as he leaned against the door frame of my bedroom.
"What?" I snapped, expecting a rant.
"If you want to fit in high school so bad, try giving yourself a makeover," he smiled, but his smile was not his usual one, it was a sincere, genuine one.
"Eh," I gave him a blank stare.
"Hey, look, I am just trying to help. Okay?" Namjoon glares as he crosses his arms.
"I just. . . It's peculiar. You've never acted this nice to me in like, six years," I stated with incredulous eyes.
"Well, I'm seventeen years old, and you're sixteen. We've matured. I am not who I was before. People change." Namjoon stated.
He has a point.
"Well, thanks," I smiled softly at him.
"Anyways, I have to get going," he then left. I realized that I have fifteen minutes left to get ready, and I haven't picked an outfit.
"Well, I'm just going to wear what I usually wear," I sighed. I dug through my closet, trying to find whatever looked nice. I pulled out a baggy jumper with a striped colourful sweater. Putting on my black converse, I quickly tied my hair into a ponytail. Then grabbing my square shaped glasses, I rushed to school without eating breakfast.

I was walking to class when I saw Jimin heading toward my direction.
"H-Hi," I stuttered, greeting him. He didn't bother to look at me, he ignored me and kept walking until he passed me. I frowned at the mere thought.
Stop it, he's never going to look at you.
I quickly made my way to class. I opened the door slowly; and immediately, I felt all eyes on me.
"Nerd, you're late again. Where's my homework?" a girl said, crossing her arms as she taps her foot impatiently.
"I-I forgot it at home, tomorrow?" I tried convincing her with a smile.
"Stop smiling, your braces are disgusting. And I need my homework now! It's due today!" she snapped.
"I'm sorry but I don't have it," I said with a blunt stare. There was nothing I could do. She moved toward me, and unexpectedly, she slapped my face vigorously. It left my cheek red.
Her eyes were narrowed, "There's going to be more of that if you don't hand them in," she threatens.
"Fight! Fight! Fight!" the entire class chants repeatedly, wanting the girl to slap me again.
