Qian heard the horses before she saw them. Large, capable men embodied with heavy, firm armory and swords longer than the length of the mare they were mounted on. They actually looked pretty disgusting and not the type of people that make friends quite so easily and they were coming towards her home.

"Horses? Really? What a way to make an entrance. I mean a Camry couldn't have been so bad now," she muttered to herself as she finished harvesting the rice for the evening, but a small voice was telling her that these men weren't here to crack jokes.

Qian and her family have been living on this small farm on the countryside of China for as long as she remembered, causing no attention to themselves or any disruption towards the chaotic city only a couple of miles west. They grew all the food they needed and went on monthly trips to the city for certain unattainable items. Qian was homeschooled and had doubts the government even knew she existed because of how isolated their lives were in contrast with the thousands of skyscrapers full of tenants not so far from their little hill side.

Qian went inside her family's little barn to milk the cows and start a new dreaded process of cheese making. The armed men came closer to her home and she wondered if she should go greet their gruesome faces along with her parents; but she decided to abide by the one rule that has always been instilled within her household, let the grown ups handle it and mind your own business.

The barn door was closed and the animals were calm and settled so it allowed Qian some time to ponder on certain subjects like the beliefs she was taught to hold on her heart and one day teach to future children. Her parents took time out of their quite boring daily schedule to sit down and talk about the "important" concepts of life which are simplicity and living without much craving. Which is particularly why we live on a hill with a farm to provide for us; to uphold the Buddhist beliefs and please the higher powers.

Her thoughts were disturbed by a loud crash and the hideous voices of those large men. Her parents were yelling something but it was inaudible. She decided the best thing to do right now was hide, and the behind the hay where the horses were currently eating was the first place that came to mind. A couple of minutes passed before the barn door barged open and heavy footsteps proceeded.
"I'm pretty sure she was yelling at someone," said a deep voice that seemed so close.
"Or she was just yelling, because there's no one here you moron. Now can we stop wasting time and get back to Akio, this place gives me the creeps," the other voice replied.
At that moment, Goru, her stallion, decided to eat the hay where her hair was and she let out a small shriek, unfortunately, that was all it took.

Qian held her breath longer than she ever had before. Squaaackkkkkkkk squackk squackk! Chicken, or more specifically, a mob of hens (that have probably smelled the grains and other animal type food given to the animals earlier) came waddling through the door. Qian let out a breath of relief because now the men have their answer as to who let out that shriek.
"We definitely need to get out of this place before we get run over chicken," one of the lumps that is supposedly a man said.
"Aweeee, they're so hungry. These mongrels probably don't feed them, how inhumane," said the second lump and he reached to pet one of the hens which viciously attacked his fingers. Oh and he shrieked like a little girl which made is very hard for Qian not to let out a giggle.
"Hurry up and summon the portal Fujio, we are leaving now! Hiro already left with the other two and all we're doing now is wasting time!" Said the same man that got attacked by a chicken.

Suddenly, there was a fierce purple light, that almost blinded Qian, that was apparently summoned and took over the barn. The hens shrieked once again and the horses went wild. Qian had no choice but to move from her spot and with relief but also utter surprise, the men were gone but the light was still there just slowly diminishing. Without a though as to what might happen, Qian reached out and touched it; only to feel herself getting sucked in. She left the only world she knows and might actually love with one comforting thought: at least her parents were going to the same place.
