Blue Moon

So, here I am. Katelyn Rose Varecruz. 13 year old girl, that sums it up. Nothing really that special about me. Nothing, except this... I was walking through the park, and this giant cobalt dish comes near my face, no less than a millimeter away, but I didn't feel a thing. It then beamed me up inside it, and these blue people were talking. They had some sort of holes in their face, and they were speaking in some language I've never heard before. The only word I recognized was 'dortorr', which I believe means 'daughter'. They then examined me, and put me back in the park as though nothing out of the ordinary has happened. How did this happen, you say? It hasn’t. And it was not the last time I saw them…

Here’s me. Lovely 2 storey house. We have 4 bedrooms, 2 kitchens and a secret garden with a Koi Pond. We have seven koi, but the bottom of the pond never gets dirty. Maybe we have carp somewhere? Oh yeah! Koi are carp! I don’t know why I forgot that.

But still, they can’t eat all that. That doesn’t matter though. I just sit and stare all day at our lovely fish. They are so beautiful. I wish I was a koi. But the sitting and staring is coming to an end. That’s right.

School. One word that changes your life; school.

I can’t wait. Until it ends, that is. I really don’t want to go to boarding school. I will miss all my friends. That being the fish.

I don’t really know anyone here, though. We live in a small town, population 457, and I was raised at home. I didn’t even go outside until I was 2 years old. My parents wouldn’t let me. They were scared of something.

My parents… I wish I could remember more about them. I miss them. At least, I think I do. It’s hard to know if you miss someone when you haven’t seen them for 9 years.

But, I always know where they are. They are always carrying these stones with their names on them, where-ever they go. But since the stones don’t move, they don’t move. And they haven’t for 9 years. I still visit them occasionally; I bring them flowers, and tell them what has happened to me in the past month. They are, I feel, the only ones that listen to me. It’s too bad they don’t hear a word I say. Then I tell them I love them, and walk back to my house.

I don’t know what it is called, but it has lots of different kids in the house. I am not related to any of them, but they are all my family. None of them carry the same blood, but we all love each other. And our carer, Miss Amelia Sapphire. She is the nicest person I have ever met. She says that if we were in trouble, she’d take 1 bullet for each of us. There is 27 children in this home. She must really love us. A lot. And we all love her back.

But I must soon say goodbye to her too. I hate this boarding school idea. Stupid council. I hate this council! If I don’t go, I have to go to juvenile hall!

So many times I’ve thought of running away. And I have.

I only made it half a kilometer before those idiots caught me. You should have seen all the ‘missing’ notices. There was at least 100.

I was really puffed, and it was getting dark. So I made a little tent from a tree trunk, a few branches and some leaves. It took forever to make the campfire. At least 2 hours. Two hours of hitting stones together.

And then, not 3 minutes after it was lit, those men in the blue and black pick me up, and take me back to the home.

Don’t get me wrong, the home is great, but boarding school is a few days away. ‘Boarding school will be fun, Kate. It will be a good experience for you.’ Yeah, yeah. So would Mexico.

Not long now, Kate. Not long now.

Hey… What’s that? Silver… Silver? What? No… Can’t be. It mustn’t be! Oh good god. PLEASE NO!

FLASHBACK

About six months ago, there was aliens in a park, who beamed me up. But they were not the only aliens I’ve seen. I’ve seen small purple ones, tall blue ones with round faces and holes in them, and I’ve seen aliens made entirely out of a metal. Number 47, boiling point 2162 Degrees Celsius, and melting point 961.78 Degrees Celsius. That’s right. Purple, blue and silver. The purple ones let me go without having anything done to me. The blue ones, well, you already know. The silver ones though. They got out a sort of fork, and I thought they wanted to have me for dinner. I asked, ‘What are we having?’ And that’s when I realized that they did actually want me for dinner. They got out knives (not fun kitchen knives where you trip you don’t get a scratch, but a butcher knife), and starting stabbing the air which was in 3 meters of my proximity. What saved me? Have you ever seen ‘Saved by the Bell’? Well, I really am lucky that we have a clock tower. 12:00pm exactly. All their equipment to the left side of the hovercraft started spacing out and malfunctioning. The bell tower was to the left of the hovercraft. Here’s the best bit. I myself was also on the left side. But wait a minute. The clock tower’s bell hadn’t worked for 7 years, when a piece of silver space junk hit i--- Oh my god. Silver in a clock tower. The silver somehow must have made the other parts of itself malfunction whenever it was near. I always thought the silver was just for decoration.

FLASHBACK

But how is that possible? The aliens wouldn’t have wanted to malfunction themselves. The blue aliens have completely different tech, and the purples were practically barbarians in classes of technology. The only people/beings in the world/universe that have access to that stuff would be… Oh. Oh!

Maybe the government aren’t that useless after all...
