The Detrimental
Eric Iniguez
Book:
Come here and pick me up, I beg
Your eyes abhor me
Yet, you not know of me
I beseech you to read me
Why appraise those you aren’t acquainted with?
Prejudice:
Quiet, obnoxious one!
Your cover appears weak
Your presentation? Insipid.
Something so dull in presence
Shouldn’t be intriguing in content
Book:
Why accept what my cover beholds?
It has lied and will deliberately do so
I’m obnoxious? Yet you’re the gullible one
My text shall disprove your belief
I beseech you to read me
Why appraise those you aren’t acquainted with?
Prejudice:
I will not be enveloped in your falsehood!
I’ll read your insides
And prove your ignorance!
Shall this appease you then?
Open yourself!
And spill your guts!
Book:
Go on gullible one
Keep flipping my pages, don’t be shy
I witness you steadily gaining interest
Your opinion transforms before me
Must I beseech you to read on?
For you must stop appraising those you aren’t acquainted with!
Prejudice:
My pride has left,
For your innards astound me
Allow me to read on
I’ll do what Bigotry will not
And fully embrace the misinterpreted one
