The dove white bus slowly drifted towards my bus stop. I tapped my foot impatiently, watching as the bus stopped and hovered a few inches from the ground, waiting for me to enter.

As I stepped on, the bus started to slowly drift to school. I sometimes felt bad for our bus driver, she had to drive Class F to and back from school, the sound of our voices probably driving her to the brink of insanity.

I sat down next to a familiar raven-haired boy, still quite lost in thought. We, the 'extraordinary' group, were better known as the delinquents of Malachite High. Everyone else had the normal high school life, yet we suffered with crazy teachers who rarely taught us anything.

I'd rather be placed in Class B, the normal class with normal people and normal teachers. 'But normal is boring, who would want to be boring for the rest of their lives?' Of course, my optimistic best friend tried to convince me that I wasn't born to be normal, which ultimately backfired. I'm a normal person, and that's that.

"So, what do you think, A?" A voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I turned to the boy next to me. Quin, my optimistic friend who only sees the bright side of life, looked at me with his electric blue eyes full of wonder.

"Oh, I wasn't listening to you, sorry. Was it important?" I asked, which resulted in Quin's smile to falter a bit, and a unsteady sigh.

"Well, I was saying wouldn't it be amazing if we got chosen for the xNebula trip to find Earth? We can see if there's anyone left there. Maybe they would want to come back to Achaiah with us."

"I hate to rain on your parade, but do you realize the chance of us getting chosen for the xNebula gene project? Plus, who would want to come back to Achaiah with us? This planet can't be better than what they have over there."

"The chances of us getting picked from everyone else is exactly two out of eight hundred and forty-three students. That's not a lot. And our planet is amazing."

"Oh, is that--" the bus stopped in front of a crystalline building. I sighed and slipped through the holographic walls of the bus, leading me and my friend near the tall glass doors of Malachite High.

"You were saying?" Quin asked innocently, a small smirk placed on his face. I rolled my eyes and opened the door.

"Mute your word box and talk to your stuffed pig, because I certainly doesn't want to hear it," I retorted.

"I got rid of that when I was six! And her name was Queen Xena Hailey China Violet Renwick, thank you very much."

"Whatever floats your boat."

The next day, a few people were called to the moderator's office, even me.

"Artmesia King, Quin Renwick, Nekhari Bryant, and Kimareia McLane report to the moderator's office."

I stood up from the table, glancing at Mr. Newman for approval. However, he was asleep, so I stepped out of the half empty classroom and started my way to the moderator's.

The mahogany doors were a bit intimidating close up, as well as from afar as well. As I pushed the door open a bit, it opened automatically to reveal three out the four chairs occupied, facing a white marble desk. Eden, the school secretary had her back turned to the chairs.

I sat down next to Quin, and the secretary turned around slowly. "Greetings, you four have been called for a special trip." Eden started, her robotic voice echoing off the walls.

"The selection was not random, yet we chose by rating your abilities and your weaknesses, the ability to work with others and the ability to work alone. So, Ms. King, Mr. Renwick, Ms. McLane, and Mr. Bryant, meet me and the moderator outside the building in three days. You're the four that's going to try and find Earth."
