Legolas 's POV

Gandalf had finally convinced Faelwen to speak about herself. I could hear within her voice, it waver, slightly, but only enough that I could hear it. I could hear the pain and suffering behind the strong, beautiful voice that spoke. I had my thoughts of who and what this creature from the Eldar could be. And once she spoke of being the last if her race my thoughts were confirmed correct.

Faelwen daughter of Elwindar was the last of the Elves that dwelled in the very heart of Middle-Earth, a place of such magnificence and beauty that not even Rivendell or Lorien could match. These elves were powerful and rightly feared, but were kind-hearted nonetheless. While they're physical appearance varied from those of Lorien and Mirkwood, they were closely resembled the High Elves of Imadilris. They're regal physique, one could tell the High Elves from the Silvan Elves.

They dwelled within their city known as Aretys. I remember as a young elf hearing about the tales, legends and deeds of these people. They made me proud to be their kin, even if I'm a Silvan elf. While they were not as good with bows as Lorien or my own people, they were however exceptional swordsman. Just as quickly as we could fire and arrow into our enemy, they could easily bring out their swords and kill several enemies.

We Silvan elves praised the High Elves with their skills with the blade just as they applauded our skill with a bow. Looking now Faelwen had laid her head on my shoulder and her beautiful green eyes fluttered close. I could hear her steady breathing and her chest fell and rose. I tucked a strand of her dark brown hair behind her pointed ear. As the moon shone down on the Fellowship I could see how beautiful she was.

She is different. Not just physically but also her personality. Back in Mirkwood all of the elven maidens are more or less the same. Light hair and eyes with a pale complexion. And they try to flirt and they giggle whenever I walk by. They rely too much on others. Faelwen knows how to be independent, she's stubborn and is willing to do anything to keep those around her safe.

I feel something for her, not as a friend but as a lover. My father has been trying to get me to find a She-Elf to court but none have every made a lasting impression that made it worth remembering them. But Faelwen,..... Faelwen is the one I have been searching for the one whom I can call my love.

Faelwen's POV

I had woken up rather early. No one else had awoken yet, except for Legolas who probably didn't sleep at all. As I opened my eyes the bright rays of the light spread out touching everything, waking it from the lingering night. I turned my head to be inches from a pair of stunning blue eyes that captured me every time I looked at them.

" 'Quel amrun Faelwen." (Good Morning Faelwen.) Legolas spoke and not a trace of a raspy morning voice was heard. His voice smooth and powerful, no doubt fit for the future king of Mirkwood. I couldn't help but smile.

" 'Quel amrun Legolas."(Good Morning Legolas.)

I however did have a slight but of a morning voice. I knew that everyone else would be up soon and the Fellowship would continue out journey to Mordor. The morning was cool, so I snuggled closer into Legolas's chest. My ear was pressed against his chest and I could hear his heartbeat and his breathing. How I wish I could stay here forever in his arms.

Soon the rest of the Fellowship had awoken and we continued our long quest. Later we had stopped for lunch at this rock formation. Boromir was attempting to teach Merry and Pippin some skills with a blade. Aragon watched and was giving the young Hobbits pointers when dueling. Frodo and Sam sat above cooking while Legolas, Gimli, Gandalf and myself were a little further behind. Legolas kept a watchful eye on the horizon. The rocks felt nice and warm from the sun beating down on them all day. Soon my eyes became dreary and they closed. and the last image I saw were those beautiful blue eyes looking back at me.

Legolas 's POV

While the others ate and practiced I was on watch. Looking for any kind of danger. I looked behind me for a few seconds to see Faelwen falling asleep on the rocks. Our eyes met and I could see a slight blush creep up her cheeks and she looked away smiling pretending to be interested in something else. Some how fate had brought us into each other's lives, and something told me that neither of us would leave anytime soon.

I continued to look around until I noticed something in the sky. As if on que, Boromir noticed it as well.

"What is that?"

Gimli just gruffly responded
"Nothing it's just a whiff of cloud." Typical dwarf answer. To just not even bother.

Boromir disagreed and so did everyone else.
"It's moving fast, against the wind."

That was when I saw it.
"Crebain from Dunland!"

Everyone jumped up.

"Hide! Frodo, Sam!" Aragon quickly yelled to the Hobbits. a Everyone jumped for cover, until I realized something. Faelwen hadn't heard our warnings and was still out there. I looks through the bushes and saw the shape of her body still on the rocks. My legs had sudden adrenaline as I sprang from my hiding place, picked up Faelwen and ducked for cover once again. I held my breath as I watched the evil birds swarm above us. I held Faelwen close. She seemed to be not asleep but unconscious.

Once it was clear I carried her out into the open. She had several cuts and wounds that weren't there before. Gimli began to ramble on about how stupid I was to go out and bring Faelwen to safety. However, as I examined her new wounds, I did notice how close Boromir had gotten to the unconscious Faelwen and it was making me uncomfortable.

"Spies of Saruman. The passage south is being watched. We must take the Pass of Carhardhas." Gandalf announced as we all looked towards the looming peak with dread.
