Eve Pov
My heart pounds as I step out of my car. This is my new home with my three best friends. I walk into the house, already furnished cause we didn't want the hassle of waiting when we moved in. I'm the first one, not surprising.
The sunset shines through the window, beautiful I thought. I hear a car door from outside. "Eve!" Someone exclaims from behind me. I turn around to see one of my best friends, Steven Torch, walking up the path.
"Steven! Ayy!" I hug him. We say our greetings and after we put our stuff in our rooms I go outside to watch the sunset. I was out there just listening to the waves and thinking about the things that may come ahead when I feel someone sit next to me.
I look over and it's my bestie, and the other girl in the house, Chastity Rowe. "Beautiful sight, isn't it?" She smiles. "It is. Much better with you here." I sigh. Chass blushes at the compliment and looks out at the water. "Just think. We have this much of the beach to ourselves. Then the forest all around us," She sighs. "This is gonna be something."
"Yeah. I'm still gonna miss my family but at least we're still in Traverse. If we weren't," I shook my head. "I don't know what I'd do." We sat in silence, just watching the waves lap against the shore with the thoughts and memories buzzing in our head. "Mason isn't here yet. He's always late." She laughed. Mason DuBay is the last person staying with us and my crush. He kinda has the reputation with us of always being the last one to show up.
"Hopefully he actually shows." I laugh. Sometimes he just doesn't show up to events that we invite him to. Mason's weird like that. "He probably will knowing he's now sharing a house with his crush." Chass teased. I felt the blood rush to my face. "He doesn't like me. He told me as a friend." I argued but I knew there was no use. She has so many things I've said that she can use against me. "Oh really? Even though he acts different around you? Even though he blushes every time you're in a call on Skype with him." She cocked an eyebrow.
I was silent for a moment. "Exactly. Dinner's here, by the way. We ordered pizza." She got up and paused at the door. "Just remember, he likes you." She smiled and walked inside before I could protest. Chass has always told me he likes me. On some days I believe her and on others I don't.
I walk inside and Mason's sitting at the table. "Liar!" I exclaimed and pointed at Chass. Her and the others laughed. He looked me up and down and smiled. "Hey Eve." The sound of him saying my name gave me chills. I hadn't heard his voice in over a week, we've only been texting. "Hey Mason." I smiled, trying to stay cool but I knew my face had to be cherry red. The rest of the night was filled with laughter and tons of blushing (especially from me) then we went to bed. Steven and Chass share a room because they're dating and that leaves Mason and I in the other room. Our room is practically split in half. His stuff on one side, mine on the other. "Night adorably handsome Mason." I smile and get in bed. He blushes, "Goodnight Eve."
