he next morning, more like late afternoon, when we reached our motel, first thing i saw was sasha and justin. hand in hand. it was really hard to admit but they did look good together, except that sasha was taller than justin, maybe. because it was hard to tell with the heels she wore. whatever it was, justin was happy, and i was happy for him. he waved at me before getting to the lift and i smiled back. sasha as always gave me a sharp look, i was so used to it now.
Adriana~ when are you leaving? i left a text for jake.
jake~ day after.. i did not reply.
this was way too frustrating now. everything was such a mess. all i wanted to do was dig a hole and bury myself until everything untangles itself, like justin said. i opened my room and the lavender fragrance comforted me to some extent. the next two hours were spent fiddling with my phone and not replying to jake's texts. today there was nothing to do. just roam around the city if you wnat to and relax as we had just arrived.
~3 frickin hours later~
there was a knock on the door. i opened it to see sasha standing in front of me with justin by her side.
"Adriana." justin said, instead of the usual 'Ade' that he called me. probably because sasha was here. at least that's what i guessed.
"yeah?" i asked and smiled at both of them.
"umm, sasha needs to go visit a friend this minute, do her hair?" he asked.
"umm, okay." i agreed willingly.
and with that, justin left. but something seemed fishy. sasha hated me so much, at least that's what she showed. why would she ask me out of all the people to do my hair? i let it go and let her in my room.
"i would've never bugged you but justin's stylist is a little ill. or that's what i'm told." she said, bitterly. i nodded in return.
"what do you wnat me to do?" i asked gesturing her hair.
"just style them. and don't touch the length." she said rudely and i wrinkled my nose.
"no trims?" i asked.
"i just said, no touching the length. duh." she said and got busy with her phone.
"umm, would you tell me where you're going so i can style them accordingly?" i asked politely.
"uh...it's beach." she said hesitantly assuring me that something was fishy.
"curls?" i offered.
"just blow-dry them now." she said. and this time, i swear i was planning to colour her hair green. or if she liked justin so much a bright purple. i pressed my lips together and combed through her hair.
"so, since how long do you know justin?" she asked. suddenly placing her phone aside.
"ever since i came on this tour." i replied honestly.
"how well do you know him?" she asked. let's just say., i know much much more than you do. i wanted to say but didn't.
"uh..what do you mean?" i asked.
"are you guys close?" she asked.
"not really.." i said, for the sake of protecting justin's relationship.
"why's does that tattoo say 'justin'?" she asked. what was with her asking me all about justin now.
"oh..that. because i'm a belieber." i said and gave her a broad, belieber smile.
she just rolled her eyes, "how did you guys meet?" she inquired.
"sasha, why's this conversation all about justin?" i asked, irritated now.
"fine." she said and pigged into her phone again.
"and just to answer your question, we just clashed into each other." i said, almost reliving my first physical interaction with justin. she raised her eyebrow and i concentrated on her hair.
"but he knows you better that any other crew member. why is that so?" she asked again.
"because my mom and pattie are good friends." i answered plainly.
"but not you and justin right?" she asked and this time i was actually going to pull her hair off her damaged-in-and-out skull.
"no. not me and justin. we just know each other." i answered. she anyway did not need to know about me and justin. i was sure she would go let it out on justin if she got to know that at least i felt close to justin.
"there. done." i said and looked at her reflection. she looked as pretty as the first time i had seen her. and her expression was as cunning too. i smiled at he as she touched her hair.
"thanks." she said and stomped out of the door.
~ 20 minutes of pure confusion later~
justin calling..
"hello." i said.
"thanks you so much Ade." he said.
"for what?" i asked.
"for not telling sasha how close we are." he said.
"how do you know?" i said.
"oh..umm, sorry we kinda tricked you. she doesn't have to go anywhere. she was kinda doubting us. so i thought you guys should have a talk." he said. he said it as if it wasn't a big deal at all. and it probably wasn't. but i felt cheated. why couldn't he be frank with me?
"yeah, i smelled something fishy." i said.
"yeah, i know smarty. i just feared you'd tell her we were more like besties now."
"i don't think we are." i said, i was fuming by now.
"yeah, that's a nice joke. i gotta get back to her now. see ya." he said and disconnected the call.
i was such an idiot. such an idiot. why did i have to be so incredibly nice? i should've told sasha that me and justin were not only friends but also kinda dating in a way. but what would that give me? satisfaction i guess. but i was just one nice person. not bragging. just not happy that i had fell for justin big time now. and he had for sasha. and in all this mess who was with me? jake i guess..
i called him.
