Chapter 1
It was just coming dawn, and I was sitting with my cousin Joe (Joe is a girl) under a great big oak tree. "Last night was cold." I said waking her from a shallow sleep. Oh yah! I forgot to mention, my name is Pat.
"Er what? What did you say about last night?" Joe said blinking the sleep out of her eyes.
"What's for breakfast?"
"Duno grass I guess."I replied rolling my eyes.
"Don't be a pessimist! You can be so down about stuff a lot think about how excited our family will be to see us when we get home." Joe retorted cheerfully. "Family? What family? What are you talking about! What home!" I snapped back.
"Come on P.A. (That's what Joe calls me sometimes) We may be lost never to return but we at least need to keep our spirits up." Joe mumbled scrambling up from next to me.
"Ok I guess it is pretty bright now we can maybe go fishing!" I yelled jumping up to my feet.
Chapter 2
"I got one!" Joe was pulling her vine with a small rock carved into a hook.
"Great how big is it?" I mumbled not looking up from the hook I was getting out of a fish's mouth.
"Not too big... Oh no!"
"What is it?" I said dropping my fish.
"Psych! It just bit the hook off of my line." Joe smiled.
"Oh ok. I almost fainted right now did you know that?" I said getting impatient.
"Yah I know I just wanted to see you smile that's all. And I did! I did it!"
Joe sounded excited.
"Yah... The hook is stuck, the fish swallowed it."
I picked my fish up and sat down again.
Chapter 3
"Get the fire started yet?" I yelled over my shoulder.
"Kinda... Got enough tinder yet?"
Joe was using the flint and steel from my bag.
"I guess...Yah I got enough."
I said looking over my shoulder again.
"Good come over here please I need some!"Joe yelled again.
I picked the tinder up in my fist a raced over to her.
"Perfect!" Joe nodded.
"Now we can cook a meal!"
"Do you think you got it for I while?"
I questioned.
"Yah I will start cooking the fish. You can do something else for a bit if you want." Joe took the tinder from my hand and put it on her small flame.
"Thanks!" I yelled racing away.
Chapter 4
We camped on a maintain with a forest plateau. Climbing the mountain was difficult but we made it up in few hours and we discovered a creek flowing close to camp that's were Joe and I went fishing today. I walked to the edge of the mountain and looked down. I knew that if I fell I would die so I stepped back a few paces but so I could just see over the edge. "Wow! What a beautiful view!" I exclaimed.
Then sat down with my feet over the edge. "We left home long ago!" I heard my voice echo though the valley under me. "Yes you did." A voice behind startled me.
