Chilled the Royal Chaos

Chapter 14 No...

~Steven/Ze's POV~

I paced back and forth constantly, waiting for either Chilled to show up, or for Jordan to wake up. I met this girl named Minx who said she knew Chilled and is willing to help me try and heal Jordan. I look towards the tumbling castle and felt my chest tighten when my thoughts started to head towards horrible results. Minx was quietly working behind me when I saw a silhouette of Chilled start running across the bridge. Relief started to fill my chest, but soon disappeared when I saw his figure drop from the bridge and plunge into the water below. I turn towards Minx and yell, "I AM GOING TO SAVE CHILLED!" She gave me a confused look and with that, I took off towards the horrible moat surrounding the falling building.

I stare into the deep depths of the water and take a deep breath, do I know how to swim? Hell no. Do I think I will be able to save Chilled? One can only hope. I let out the breath and take another one. I mentally count to three and jump in. The water surrounds me with icy coldness and I take a second to get used to it before opening my eyes and looking around the dark water. All around me were bodies of women, men, and children. I try to ignore that as I look around for the one man I want. I finally spot him as he was struggling to try and get to the surface. I tried to swim towards him. I sorta did an awkward doggy paddle, but that was getting me moving, not fast, but moving.

I saw Chilled start to give up hope, and soon he stopped moving. I saw some color of his face drain and that gave me even more determination to try and get to him faster. My arms moved quickly, pushing water through my numb fingers. My legs kicked like a donkey. I kept my full focus on the fainting Chilled. I was losing breath, and I had no idea how I was going to get back to the surface, but ignored it when I finally reached my beloved. His lips were blue and his skin was pale. I look up at the surface and see how far away I was, but I tried not to think about it as I maneuvered Chilled to hang off my back and I did my awkward doggy paddle once more. The breath that I had in me wanted out, and my lungs wanted more air. My lungs were stinging and I wanted to open my mouth to take a big gasp of precious air, but I knew that wasn't going to happen, as I still felt the cold numbness of the moat water. I tried to move to the side as a brick fell into the water and was quickly sinking to hit my head. It passed without any damage, but that was extra energy wasted for me. I continued swimming and felt my mouth gaping open, wanting to take a breath. I was almost there, I see the surface, I see the dim flames, the bridge. I swam faster and faster, but I was farther than I thought I was. I felt my arms and legs grow tired as the air blew out from my lungs. I tried to breathe, but I sucked in water instead. I started panicking as I wanted to breathe in and out, I wanted to gain more energy to save Anthony. I kicked more and more, but my legs grew numb thanks to the cold water. I started to float there, just float. Right in my position. I felt tears wanting to escape, but they were taken away by the water, just like everything else of mine. More water filled my lungs and I just floated there. I felt Chilled still hanging off my back and I spun around to face him. I stared at his closed eyes and brought our faces closer together, 'We almost made it... We... I love you Anthony...' I closed the space between us and I felt sadness taking over when I didn't feel Chilled try and kiss back. I backed away and hugged him instead. So we were there just floating. Chilled and me.

There is one thing I regret though... One little thing. I never got to tell Chilled that I love him, too...

I'm sorry Anthony... Sorry we never got to start that kingdom you wanted. I'm sorry I didn't try harder...

And with that said, I finally let the nagging tiredness take over me and with my arms wrapped tightly around Chilled, I fell asleep.

~Minx's POV~

I was busy working on Kootra, trying to patch up his wound when Ze decided to run off, yelling he was going to save Chilled. I thought he was delusional, but when I saw where he was headed, my heart missed a beat. I looked down at Kootra, the one who needed attention. If I leave him, he may die. But I don't know if Ze can save Chilled on his own. I grit my teeth and wrap clothing around Kootra's wound before standing and running after Ze.

I get to the moat, the most likely place where Chilled may have fallen. I look at the water and see a few air bubbles moving through the water, kinda slowly, "He's not gonna have enough air." I say out loud and start to try and follow the bubbles to the location it was heading so I can try and save them. I follow the bubbles to the side of the bridge and carefully walk across to where I saw the bubbles. I waited and waited to see if I could spot that Ze or Chilled close to the surface. The bubbles continued for a few minutes, until a giant one came up and surfaces. I look into the water and wait to see any sign of Ze or Chilled, but there was nothing. I start to panic and try to remember roughly where that big air bubble came from.

I quickly decided on a place and dived into the water. I opened my eyes and ignored the cold pain of the water. I glanced around and finally looked below to see a sinking Ze hugging a Chilled. I quickly swim towards them and grab the neck of Ze's shirt and pull them both to the surface. I reach it and take a deep breath and immediately swam for land. I pulled myself to the land area and then I pulled the two love birds along with me. I pulled them apart and gave cpr to Chilled first. It took a few minutes, but he was barely breathing, so there was a point in trying. After he coughed, water flew on my face and he coughed a few more times. I moved onto Ze. I gave him cpr also. It took less time and he, too sputtered water onto my face. He started to sit up, and backed away from him.

Ze looked past me at Chilled and I saw a glassy sheen cover his eyes. I stood up and backed away from their little moment. I turned and ran back to my business with Jordan.
