I'm speechless. This is something we definitely did not expect.
Michael Sherman

A few days ago, I was upset because my best friend (who I will call Mike) was acting weird. When I talked to him, his responses were short and off. When I asked my dad to change our plans for the weekend so that I could spend time with Mike since I rarely saw him. Of course Mike hadn't known this and just ditched me for over 6 hours for his girlfriend and other friends. I honestly wasn't that hurt that he ditched me, I was just hurt that he wouldn't even look at me when he walked right by me and he didn't even forewarn me that he had his girlfriend and friends coming.

It happened before. I was really close with a friend and all of a sudden he just flat out avoided me. I tried texting him once, but one to two word responses were all I got. My "school best friend" (who I will call E) of four and half years began to ignore and avoid me altogether. Maybe it was because I had moved a couple miles away or maybe because I had changed over time. Maybe they were just tired of me. I don't know. Like with Mike, being avoided wasn't what really bothered me. What bothered me was I had no clue why.

When I explained why I was upset to my mom, she waited a few seconds before replying, almost as if trying to find the right words. She told me the reason some people wouldn't respond as I would, which was in many words, was because I have an inexplicable affect on people. I am an optimist, I always try to help, I have a bright personality, and most importantly, I can read straight through pretty much anybody (which is true). She said I had natural beauty that was unbelievable and that many would agree. She then explained the fact that I could read straight through most was intimidating, especially when its the ones Im closest with. If something is wrong, they can't hide it. I just know.

Her response caught me off guard, but picked up my mood. I still repeat in my head what she told me.
