"Boulder, you can't be serious! We can't care for kids!" said a very tired fire-fighter Emergency Responder named Heatwave Henderson. The firefighter was looking at his Emergency Responder step-brother, Boulder Anderson-Henderson, in shock.

The dark-skinned male, a shorter man with brown hair and brown eyes, looked at his eldest step-brother with a pleading look while holding a cardboard box with four bundles inside it. "Please, Heatwave! I think we can do it! They were just lying in the streets outside and everyone else just passed by them!"

Heatwave, a tall ginger male with sharp crystal blue eyes and tons of attitude, loyalty, and kindness, sighed at the engineer. "Fine, I'll tell you what. Blades and Chase are due back from patrol any minute. We'll talk to them and if they agree, then we keep them the night, see how it goes and ask Cody for some advice in the morning. If they don't then we still keep them tonight, but take them to the adoption center tomorrow." He relented.

The younger boy smiled. "Thank you, Heatwave!" he said, shifting the cardboard box to one hand and giving the firefighter a one-armed hug.

Heatwave groaned. "Don't thank me until the others have given their answer."

Chase Henderson, an averaged sized man with black hair and blue eyes looked at the box with a blank face. "Boulder, what is this?" he asked, looking at the green clad hero.

"These are children, Chase. You do know what a child is, correct?" he asked the police officer Emergency Responder.

"We know what a kid is, Boulder, we want to know what they're doing in our house." Blades Henderson, a blonde childish man with baby blue eyes and a pilot Emergency Responder, snapped.

Heatwave's green eyes narrowed as he hit Blades upside the head. "Don't be harsh. These kids where outside the house on the street and Boulder says they've been there since this morning." He told his younger brothers.

Boulder, ever the kind-hearted man, picked up the blue bundle for Chase to see and pulled back the blankets to reveal a small baby, about 3 years old, with tufts of black hair and crystal blue eyes. Chase looked at the child with a nervous look on his face.

Boulder gently handed the child to his step-brother. "Mind his head, Chase." was the only warning before the child was placed in his unwilling arms.

"Oh." Chase said in surprise, looking at the child. The baby babbled happily, clearly delighted.

Boulder wasted no time handing the orange bundle to Blades. The baby inside, a cute 1 year old, had dark brown hair and blue eyes with green flecks scattered across the irises, saying they would probably turn green around the six month mark.

"Um... Hi?" Blades asked, having received the same warning as his older brother before the baby was placed in his arms. "I'm Blades."

The baby smiled, raised a hand and tapped it against his cheek.

Boulder took the red bundle and handed it off to Heatwave. The baby, an adorable 2 year old, a red head with baby blue eyes and a face full of freckles. Giving the firefighter the same warning he gently gave the child to his step-brother. The baby kicked, almost hitting Heatwave. The other three looked at him with worried face, hoping he didn't get angry. To their relief Heatwave chuckled, then pulled the ginger child closer. "I like you, kiddo. We're keeping you." He said.

Chase looked down at the black haired child. "They'll need names if we are to keep them." He says, examining the baby.

"I've already covered that and come up with a list of names we can choose from." Boulder said, pulling out a long, long, list of baby names and setting it on the table, then strolling over to the box and picking up the green bundle, inside, a small child slept. The child had pale skin, the beginnings of shaggy brown hair, and an unknown eye color. "I've decided on Graham for this one. You all get to choose the names for the ones I've handed you."

"The list will take a while to read through," Chase sighed, "But why not?" he picked up the list and skimmed through names like Jayden, Hayden, John, and Fredrick, dismissing them all. Until he came to a name his step-brother had circled, two in a row. Kaden and Charles. The baby in his arms didn't look like a Kaden, so he decided on Charles. "Okay, I've decided on a name Boulder, now what?" he asked.

"Talk to the baby, use the name, see if he likes it." The green clad hero replied from where he sat with the baby he'd chosen to take care of, Graham, he thought Boulder had said.

The baby in Chase's arms looked at him with a passive expression, almost as if he were saying. "Any name you choose has to come through me first. Hit me with your best shot."

"Hello, Charles, my name is Chase. I'll be your official guardian now." Chase said nervously, holding the baby tightly, but not too tight, and closely, but not too close. The baby seemed unimpressed. "You don't seem happy, Charles. How about if I give you a nickname?" The baby's eyes sparkled in delight as a wide grin broke out on his face. "Okay, a nickname then. Hmm..." Chase thought. "What about... Chuck?" the baby's smile dropped. "Okay, Charlie?" he asked.

The baby squealed in delight and Chase smiled at him. "Charlie, then. Charlie Henderson."

"Not Henderson!" Boulder called from the kitchen. "Burns! The box had a note on it that said something like 'take care of my kids, I don't want them. Rita and Woodrow Burns'."

"Why would someone dump their kids in the middle of the f-" Heatwave shoots his youngest brother a look that says "If you swear, I promise you." And Blades quiets for a moment, then continues, "Why would someone dump their kids in the street for no reason and then put two names on it when there's only one person in the relationship that doesn't want them?"

"We don't know that, Blades-y. For all we know, the father dumped the mom, she was heartbroken and couldn't look at her kids without seeing him so she abandoned them in the streets on the behalf of both of them." Chase replied, hugging the newly named Charlie closer to his chest, as did Boulder with Graham.

"Well, if they're still around, they need to be taught a lesson. You don't abandon your kids in the middle of the street because you can. Kade, Charlie, Graham, and the little girl Blades has yet to name will be fine, they'll grow into fine men and women." Heatwave growled in reply, pulling the newly named "Kade" closer to his chest protectively.

Boulder looked at his oldest brother with a smug look. Heatwave looked back at him with an annoyed look. "Oh, don't give me that look, you knew this would happen when you brought them home."

Boulder nodded. "I knew you'd learn the lesson."

"Boulder? What should we feed Dani, Kade, Graham, and Charlie?" asked Blades.

"I'll go out in a bit!" Boulder called back, glad his brothers had learned the lesson that the dark skinned male had always known. How to love.
