You slid the pan into the oven and took off your mits. Setting the timer for 30 minutes you exited the kitchen and jogged up the stairs. There were three rooms: one was yours and your husband's room, Your twin boys' room, and your daughter's room. You opened the boy's room first. They were tucked away in their beds, but you could see a faint light emit from one of the blankets. Smiling, you sneaked over to Tristen's bed, he was reading, flashlight in hand. You yanked the covers off and he squealed a little before leaping off the bed to tackle you. You began to laugh as you grappled him on the floor, soon the other twin Adrian, slowly began to wake up.

"Mom? what's going on?" 

The door creaked open, and you and Tristen stopped mid-tackle, and looked in the open doorway. There stood Liam, your husband. He grinned and held his arms open.  You stood up and embraced him, taking in his scent, warm honey and metal. Liam was an engineer and mechanic. You felt another pair of arms wrap around you and Liam. Tristen had joined the group hug. 

"Mommy? is daddy home yet?"  Avalon asked, her voice deary and confused. She looked up through weary eyes, and almost immediately they lit up and her face curved into a smile.

"Daddy!" She squealed and leaped into his arms. You all began to laugh. You heard the timer in the kitchen go off. You sprinted to the kitchen and opened the oven. Inside were freshly baked cookies. You put mits on and grabbed the tray out of the oven. 

Liam jogged down the stairs in black sweatpants and no shirt. Once you set the tray on the stove to cool off, you turned around and immediately your heart rammed in your chest.

"I put the kids to bed," He said sheepishly. His tanned arms swelled as he nervously put an arm behind his head. You smiled, and hugged him.

"I love you," he breathed into your hair. You closed your eyes, you felt his heartbeat against yours. He breathed in your hair, and for once in a long time, you felt completed by him, and only him. No distractions, no responsibilities.

He looked down at you, and his lips gently grazed yours. You closed your eyes and let him take your breath away. He wrapped his arms around your waist, and melded himself with you. You stayed like that, just purely kissing, no lust, no teeth or tongue, just lips on lips.

"Ew! MOM!" You heard Tristen gag. You let go of Liam, to shoo Tristen back into bed. 

Once Tristen went back to bed, you looked at Liam and began to laugh. He pulled you upstairs and the two of you went to bed.

It was so quiet in the world. 

But your world was asleep.
