1, 2, 3 marks across
her soft skin.
She wonders if this
day will be her last.
The piece of metal
runs her life now.
Would anybody stop
her? Would they just let
her die?
She decides to stay.
For her family, her only friend,
and her boyfriend.
The silver piece of
metal drops in the water
and sinks slowly to the
bottom.
The girl flushes her
blade and a tiny bit of
relief is lifted.
Years later she has a
beautiful vista and is
married to the love of
her life.
She has a smile
on her face. Not a fake
smile, a real one.
Their child runs like
a maniac around their yard.
Then the child asked,
¨Momma, what's that?¨ as
she pointed to her mothers
scars.
Then she simply said,
¨These are my tiger stripes.¨
Their child nods and
goes inside to play.
Her husband said,
¨You made it my beautiful princess.¨
She starts to cry and thinks
to herself, I made it.
